TMNT Collectables Review Thread

Here it is, the catch all thread for print and video reviews of TMNT figures and other collectables. Let the games begin....

Can someone do a review of the new Foot Ninja? I've been dying to see it and it will probably be a popular video.

If no one else does it before I can get to it, I will. But I'm going to be doing a video review of everything, so it may take a while. If no one does it first, though, I'll do a review of just him, and post it on here.

it would be nice to catalogue figures by year...there's too many

Cowabunga Carl 07-08-2012 11:26 PM

I've started doing write ups about the 2k12 figures on my blog. Right now Raphael is the only one up but the others are coming shortly. Link in my sig.

I'm always looking for more blogs to follow. And a new 'Turtles' blog would be great. I look forward to reading your reviews. I hope you'll stop by my site on Turtle days (every Wednesday), and non-Turtles days alike and leave a comment or two. This week's post will also be about the 2012 Turtles.

I'm really loving the new figures, I really like the new design and they are super posable,I think these are probably my favorite TMNT figs. I'm really glad Don's mouth is closed.:D

Hmm... So far the best things to come out of the new 2012 TMNT stuff from what I gather around here is the four turtles themselves. Why just make them nicely articulated and then skimp on everyone else...not to mention give 'arch-foot' syndrome to Foot Soldier, Splinter, and Kraang...

Because that's what Playmates has pretty much done with every TMNT line for years. Sad but true.

Indeed. I wish they'd not. It's been 24 years since the vintage line and given all the things on how toys have changed with poseability and other things...

I agree, ninjas need knee bends. I mean Kraang has big 5 articulation...that was common in the 80's and 90's, not now.

Sadly it's becoming quite common again these days. Even Hasbro is starting to do it.

The weak articulation on the auxilary characters is what soured me on the 2K3 line, though. Hopefully they continue to improve.

Seems things have changed in the 2 years since I've purchased an action figure....

Using the 4Kids line as a base line, sadly it doesn't bode well for articulation in future figures. I think it got WORSE as the line continued.

It actually got better in a year but then started getting worse and worse and worse until 2k7

Cowabunga Carl 07-09-2012 06:50 AM

Articulation has gotten bad on figures in general as of late. The figures that are aimed at collectors tend to be well articulated but if they are for the masses now they get very little. I don't know if it is because they think kids don't need it, or if it just saves cost but I don't like it.

Coro 07-09-2012 07:09 AM

I dont see all the fuss...the Turtles are nicely articulated. I can see where you are coming from on the other characters though. The way I look at it is this...Playmates hasn't exactly been hitting home runs with the turtles lines since the 80's and probably view another reboot as a pretty high risk. They probably want to see if this cartoon and movie will actually bring the turtles back to the pizza eating masses and until the demand gets closer to what the 80s and 90s were they view it as a pretty high risk investment...dunno I could be wrong
