It's sounding like what I was expecting, a fun popcorn movie. Which is fine with me. I wouldn't mind a smarter script but at the end of the day I want a fun TMNT movie.
|
Is there a reason why the film had to be limited to a 100 minute runtime?

Of course, this is all hypothetical with no concrete evidence. |

Can I say that I loathe the argument "Who watches ________ for Oscar-caliber performances?" Is it really so terrible to expect decent acting in any movie, especially one you have a vested interest in? Besides, Heath Ledger earned his posthumous Oscar for a dopey super hero movie role....so it just seems a bit disingenuous. Then again who really takes the Oscars seriously anymore anyway?

It'll be interesting to see where this film lands in the Rotten Tomato Meter.
TMNT 1990 = 45% TMNT 2 1991 = 36% TMNT 3 1993 = 27% TMNT 2007 = 34% |

That also neglects the "audience scores":
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: 81% Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: 68% Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: 35% TMNT: 61% Back then critics weren't ready for comic book movies then...and TMNT as a franchise was only 5 years old when the 1st film hit. There are variables. Now critics could be Turtle fans. I mean....I'm 30. If I could figure out how to make the leap to that career field, I'd totally do it. |
