TMNT Classic General Traag & Granitor - finished!
Finally got these 2 done...
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e4...gGranitor1.jpg As tricky as these 2 were to make, they were also a lot of fun - and I learnt a few new tricks! General Traag: http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e4.../TraagWIP1.jpg http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e4...nTraagTR-1.jpg http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e4...nTraagHead.jpg Traag was made from a Marvel Legends Thing with movie Thing arms. The headsculpt was done from scratch, and the shoulders, crotch, hips and boots were all sculpted. The belt is leather, and his chest emblem is styrene. Much of the stone texture I sculpted on the lower body was done with an engraving pen - a real timesaver, and easier than sculpting each individual stone! Granitor: http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e4...anitorWIP1.jpg http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e4.../Granitor1.jpg http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e4.../Granitor3.jpg Granitor was a much bigger challenge - he's almost fully sculpted, for a start. The body is a Spider-Man line Juggernaut - I was planning to use much the same recipe as Ray H. used for his awesome Granitor, but deviated quite a bit... The arms & legs are from a DCSH Darkseid. I was playing around with them, thinking they'd be suitable since they're cast in the right colour, and the shoulders were huge - enough for me to sculpt Granitor's protrusions, and keep most of the articulation. In a rare display of serendipity, the Darkseid parts fit into the Juggernaut torso & crotch perfectly, with no modding! I also built new elbow & wrist joints out of styrene to maximise the movement, as I was losing the bicep swivel & the original arms only had swivel wrists. He's fully sculpted - I put a layer of putty down, roughly shaped it and let it cure. Then I went in with a variety of knives and carved the final shape. This gives a much more effective rocky look than if I'd just sculpted it, as I'm not great at that kind of stuff. Again, the belt is leather and his medal is styrene. http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e4...gGranitor2.jpg http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e4...gGranitor3.jpg http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e4...nTraagBomb.jpg The weapons are cobbled together from random guns with bits of styrene stuck on. I also gave Traag the weather grenade he used in his first appearance - it's only about 5mm in diameter and painting it was a HUGE pain in the arse... |
Oh my GOD. These are freakin' fabulous. Wow. Whoa. Yowza. If only we got Classics like these! Damn. I really would love having them on the shelf.

Yep, these are awesome!
Amazing stuff, the technique you used for Granitor is very effective. Absolute perfect
freakin awesome work Discogod, the word "Epic" for these 2 customs would be an understatement. :)
These both look fantastic! Definitely the best customs of General Traag and Granitor I've seen. The chiseled look on Granitor fits perfectly. Looks as though he lept right off the screen. And I like how General Traag is holdng the "TOTAL CHAOS" weather-maker. Would like to see how these 2 scale next to the TMNT classics. Awesome work!

"THE NEUTRINOS HAVE ELUDED US!!!"
Awesome! Pure, unadulterated, awesome. The weather maker is a nice touch. |
Wow! really well done. :):)

Nice Job! They look great!
These are perfect!
How long does it take you to make something like this? Do you use a cast of any sort? Just curious.
They both look fantastic! How much do your commissions generally cost?
