I love Capullo's art.

I don't get the contradiction:

It’s not Heaven or Hell or anything we’ve seen before. The idea simply is that when we’re done here, we show up somewhere else...
Quote:

If you’ve lived a good life you appear in one territory, if you haven’t, you appear on the other, and both sides are in conflict with one another. This is where all our dead friends and relatives are waiting for us
So it's not Heaven and Hell, but it's Heaven and Hell.

Maybe he means that it's an ongoing eternal war? Seems like splitting hairs to me.

Two sides, one if you're good, one if you're bad, both at war... just not named Heaven and Hell.

Maybe it will make more sense once we're able to read it, but yeah... seems bluntly contradictory.

CylonsKlingonsDaleksOhMy 09-13-2016 06:42 PM

Some of it makes me think of Kirby and the magic crystal... the pristine country landscape and the monsters fighting humans... some of the tech weapons...

Huh. Even more excited now.

yeah, i'm not going to try to draw conclusions before i get my hands on it.

i'll just go in open minded and enjoy the ride. :D

It's not Star Wars, but it happened a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.

myconius 09-13-2016 07:51 PM

well since it's Mark Millar, if there's not tons of gratuitous violence, gore, sex, or all of the above i'll be shocked!!!

ever read his mini-series 'Nemesis'?

and i found that series just by chance.

someone was selling an ebay lot of Millar comics for next to nothing.

it had a Hitgirl variant cover i was looking for as well as the first few issues of Nemesis, Super Crooks, and Superior.

after reading the first two issues of each i was hooked!! :D

Nemesis was some SICK S%#@ though wasn't it???

"you have a train to catch"

It was a unique tale, captivating and well done. So good.

Kick-Ass actually kinda bored me a bit... I made it through the first volume, but didn't make it through the second. It's been awhile, so I should probably try again.

even though it was released after Kick-Ass 2, try reading the Hit Girl series before KA2.
it'll make a LOT more sense and you'll get more out of the story. :)

i added this title to my pull-list when i bought issue #1 yesterday.

a very ambiguous story, but told with enough heart to make you feel for the main character.

some reviewers are throwing perfect 'TENS' at this issue. not that it wasn't good, i don't think it was amazing enough to slap a ten on it.
a 'NINE' . . . . . . . MAYBE??? but definitely not a ten!

now that that's out of the way, the art was really REALLY beautiful!!!

if you are a fan of Greg Capullo's art at all definitely check this issue out!
some of the same type of faces we've seen him draw in 'Haunt' or in the art he did in 'Batman'.
but it still is really really nice!

i did like the writing Mark Millar did for this issue much better than some of his other recent stories that i've read.
i hope we get to see a comic as action packed and bloody as the 'Kick-Ass' series or 'Hit-Girl'. but that's just my own personal preference.

I'm ashamed to admit I forgot about this until you posted this morning, Myc. :teek:

Just read it...

There is no better artist than Capullo, I love the man's art to death. Beautifully drawn issue, and the story's hook is fascinating.

What the hell. I give it a 10/10, but with the knowledge that a lot of my hype is because I simply don't know where the story is going...

mayyyyyybe even 8.5/10??? :D

I'd love to see Capullo's take on the TMNT universe. Although Casey would probably look too much like Dick Grayson... my one critique on Capullo is all black-haired Caucasians either look like Bruce Wayne or Dick Grayson, the only difference being the age.
