Most movies intentionally leave things open because not every little thing needs to be explained and backstories are left vague for the mystery aspect of it.

...why was the alien the father of the main character in Contact? God was that lame.

I remember watching revolver and thinking... what? I can't tell you which bit though because I just don't remember the movie much, so I can live with it.

Why does it being an old movie make it invalid for viewers to question things about it?

Superman can control his strength so sex isn't a problem but the question of the ages is if during ejaculation the sperm shooting out would be like shooting a gun inside her vagina.

Speaking of water why would they invade a world thats mostly acidic to them and pretty much rains acid. Like no one in that species wonder what was covering most of Earth.
