The 'I Got A New Piece Of Art' Thread, (for everybody!)

As discussed over here, I thought it might be a cool idea to have one thread for peoples' art collections - its sometimes hard to keep track of what people have got in loadsa seperate threads, and I get a kick outta seeing other folks' art collections. So feel free to add, and I reckon that it don't need to be exclusively 'New', just put up what you'se have got!

So I guess I better go first, with this commission that I got from 'Awesome Jim Lawson' himself, in the post earlier this week:

I love your Fosco cover piece so much. That Lawson Commish is insanely awesome as well. great background detail!

OA 02-28-2010 04:16 PM

Now this is my kinda thread. 8)

I have a good amount art (mainly old school), and most has probably been posted around here in some fashion or another. But as I'm waiting for a new piece to come in, I'll post a couple of my favs:

My painted Kevin Eastman issue #11 cover

The cover to Fugitoid by Eastman & Laird

I'll post my new art when it arrives.

Samhain 02-28-2010 04:18 PM

''Heres comes Danny to put us to shame''.

lilmotto 02-28-2010 04:42 PM

Can we change the title to say no Danny postings allowed? lol
I can't wait to see your stuff man. You definitely have one of the nicest tmnt art collections I have seen around

BoggleKng 02-28-2010 05:17 PM

Love it..Lots of fun stuff, I like seeing all the different artists interpretations.
I will be posting some stuff when I get around to taking pictures..
Danny's collection is purdy..

discordiatookie 03-01-2010 11:43 AM

"A great man... a visionary... Some of the super-types call him "The father of us all"."

Well, mayhap not quite, but yeah, he sure does have the Daddy of all collections! :D

And thanks for adding pics guys! Some great stuff there. Especially jealous of all that there Talbot art - he's pretty amazing. And my collection has a massive Dooney gap - gotta get me some of that action. All in time though, all in time...

OA 03-01-2010 04:41 PM

All shucks guys, yall flatter me... please don't stop.:P

On a serious note, I think this thread is a cool idea as not only will we get to see a great variety of art pieces and takes, but we'll also get see where our intersts lie. As a major art collector these past few years, I think its great to see new people collecting these one of kind pieces. It was starting to feel lonely!

This place could also be great for networking of sorts - as seen above- where people can get info on commissions, pricing, etc. Also maybe a bit of trading and selling as well. All in all, very cool.

lilmotto 03-01-2010 07:21 PM

I agree this could be a great network for buying/selling/trading pieces.

I just got this in the mail today:

I'm sure there are some other people with some A.C. Farley art. I'll eventually post mine on here.

discordiatookie 03-06-2010 03:46 PM

Heh, was wondering if they Dooney cards would appear in here. I put in a few bids myself, but was outmatched at the end. I really wanted the Renet and Shredder ones, but obviously not as much as some!

lilmotto 03-06-2010 04:09 PM

Haha I knew they would tooo I bid kinda high for the shredder and casey jones.... sadly i couldn't snipe bid like i wanted to lol

kool75uk1 03-06-2010 04:40 PM

Well i wanted the shredder sketchcard Donney listed last week and i got out bid on that one, that went for $31.00 more than mine.:tcouch:

lilmotto 03-06-2010 08:40 PM

If you don't mind what was your max bid on the shredder card this time? Mine clearly was $35. I thought about going higher but I really didn't have the time I had to snap bid everything then leave

kool75uk1 03-07-2010 05:25 AM

My max bid was $51.00 on the shredder and casey cards.

lilmotto 03-07-2010 08:33 AM

Well that makes me feel better cause now I know I didn't have a shot lol

kool75uk1 03-07-2010 09:46 AM

Im sorry about that man, tho im sure there will be more listed on ebay in the near future.

lilmotto 03-07-2010 09:48 AM

No need to apologize. I would be upset if you bid $36 but since you bid that high then I don't mind you won shredder for $36 ;)

lilmotto 03-08-2010 09:06 PM

What is the average price for an eastman sketch I noticed ebays are pretty expensive around $225

Depends. An older sketch thats detailed is obviously worth more but kevin doessnt charge anything at a con.

All those ones on eBay he did for free at conventions and I would not be willing to pay anything for them.

Samhain 03-09-2010 01:15 PM

You know what kinda annoys me? How almost any artist that does commissions will pretty much draw anything you want. But always for a price. ''You want 2, 3, 8 characters!? Sure! But itll cost ya''.

What I dont get is how an artist can refuse to do any group shot Tmnt commissions because it starts to feel like ''real work''. The hell? Your paying for it. Its real work. Just because its not published its a waste of time? Your Probably paying more for the commission than a company would pay the artist for his ''real work''. How much do any of those Mirage guys get paid for their stuff? Probably not what they deserve to get. Anyways, I just set up an awesome Tmnt fight scenece commish and it should be here in about a month or two. Surprise surprise.

discordiatookie 03-09-2010 04:07 PM

Just spotted this on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/TEENAGE-MUTANT-N...item58865b3dd0

I'd snap it up myself, but I got nae pennies left at the mo.

lilmotto 03-09-2010 05:05 PM

That's a bit expensive for my taste I bought one of those form murph and he got me several sketches for at least half of that

Since the sketches are vintage sketches and not ones that the seller just got yesterday at a convention, I think the price is fair. Although fair doesn't mean it'll sell for that. Also, unless Murph still has a stack of those books somewhere, you're not likely to see that book for sale again anytime soon.
