Upcoming Anniversary/Thoughts

So...February 8th, 2018 will mark the 15th anniversary of this series.

With the 2012 show completed and the new series not airing until next fall, do you think we are in for any surprises?

CyberCubed 12-08-2017 12:10 PM

Still waiting for Viacom to give us proper DVD boxsets of the series. The wait shall continue.

Either way I've been marathoning the 2k3 series myself rewatching it all. I started on November 6th, and now only a month later I'm already 8 episodes into Fast Forward. I'll be finished with the whole series in about another week or so. The first four seasons are the best bar some of the duller filler eps, but I really like both Ninja Tribunal and Fast Forward for different reasons. It was a nice way to shake up the series given all the old plotpoints were pretty much wrapped up. The final season is the weakest but there are a few decent eps there.

I think I've watched the 2k3 series in full about 5-6 times. This is probably my 6th rewatch of the series. Amazing how a series I watched as a teenager can still be enjoyed as a 30 year old.

Wow this series is nearly 15 years old already? Jesus.

I don't really expect anything to be done in celebration of it tbh.

It would be nice to see proper DVD boxsets of this series, though I don’t think it’s gonna happen.

I'm constantly taken back how "old" everything is from the early 2000's now. No joke, every time people bring up a show, videogame, or movie from the early 2000's I think of it as "recent" but then you realize this stuff is like 15 years old now.

The 2003 Teen Titans cartoon is also 15 years old. Dragonball Z finished the dub at the height of its popularity in 2005. The PS2/Gamecube/Xbox and GBA era was on its height of its popularity by 2003. The Hoenn generation of Pokemon with the Ruby/Sapphire games was 2003. The Star Wars prequels are now 15 years old.

Goddamn. Sometimes I wish I could go back in time to the years 2001-2006 or so. That was a glorious time period. The age of the early 2000's when all this stuff was coming out for the first time but there was very little to no social media and people posted on message boards. People still used VHS tapes and were just transitioning to DVDs.

I still have trouble thinking of the 2010's as a "new decade" which is why I feel the early 2000's aren't that old.

Maybe some retro action figures based on the series could be released.

TMNT has started to acknowledge it in their social media posts (a lot, actually), but I don't expect anything. Anything new, merch or otherwise, would be welcomed, though.

I noticed that as well. I didn't want to jinx it though. I just make sure that every time they mention the 4Kids series on social media, to let them know that we want a dvd release.

Which twitter is this? Link?

Here's a few of the recent posts:

https://twitter.com/TMNT/status/937365939133218816

https://twitter.com/TMNT/status/937003559878524928

In that last one they incorrectly state that the Turtles Forever dvd came out eight years ago, instead of correctly stating that the movie premiered on the television that day eight years earlier.

Even though that's an official twitter, it does seem to be run by a guy in his 20's. Not exactly someone high on the food chain over at Nick. Probably a College intern.

How do you even discern that? If anything, I think an older person using the Internet is more likely to make errors.

CyberCubed 12-08-2017 08:54 PM

If you read his replies and everything, sounds just like someone who would post here. I imagine he's probably in mid 20's. That's still fairly "old" to be running a official twitter for Nick.

I feel you, man... but this is like the 23rd time you say this.

I doubt that. And if they made some they'd be limited or something. They did those for the FW Turtles because that show was huge in its prime and thus had an immens legion of fans. 2k3? Not even close.

Yeah he has his own views but he does have to post things on behalf of Nick too (obviously)

Some seem to be, others not.

Powder 12-09-2017 03:38 AM

All art is credited to the original creator except for stock stuff done by in-house talent.

Original TMNT Cartoon Fan 12-09-2017 03:46 AM

I had no idea this series existed when it started airing.
