Did you know that in Norway there is a sugar tax that candy makers (and buyers) have to pay?

But the rules are so whacked up that they make no sense. Like the Yule Marzipan pig is taxed cause it's candy, but the Marzipan big pack you buy for cooking is not taxed, even though the latter have more sugar then the Marzipan pig.

marzipan gets taxed when it's formed (shape of pig, Christmas three, etc)

Sugar free pastilles are also taxed, even though they are 100% sugar free. And the government's response to this in a recent newspaper article? They harvest so much money off the sugar tax, that they won't change it so it's a "fair" tax.

Wow. That's crazy.
