I like it, it gives me faith in an ordered universe.
The sun comes up every day, sets every night. And any attempts to film X-Men will come out looking like a wet hot mess. |
Kinberg claims Dark Pheionx is more faithful to the x-men comics. he talked to Entertainment Tonight
“It's much more loyal to the original comic than X-Men 3, which told the Dark Phoenix story,” Kinberg shared with ET’s Carly Steel at the Deadpool 2 premiere. “It's a movie that involves extraterrestrial characters, which is not something that we've done in the X-Men franchise before, and is something that is a huge part of the Dark Phoenix saga in the comics.” Kinberg added details about the tone of his directorial debut, promising Dark Phoenix will be “a little less operatic” than past X-Men movies, saying, "It’s more intense and it's more real and grounded, and hopefully more relatable.” Pardon me if I don't believe him at all |
Why would anyone want the Dark Phoenix saga to be grounded?

Honestly, I'm happy with the way this is shaping up for multiple reasons.
1. I don't want a successful X-Men film. I want this to crash and burn, to further assist Disney and the MCU in reacquiring all things mutant. 2. I don't want a confusing competition of Skrulls. In fact, I'll bet you they were originally calling the aliens Skrulls, but as part of the Fox/Disney merger, somebody decided to change these aliens to nameless Greys. 3. It still sounds better than Apocalypse. |
I'm proud of this franchise for it's early innovation and it's ability to last this long and make a mark on cinema history.
That said, I'm so ready for a reboot. Honestly, I'll take it from Disney or Fox at this point, but give the team-oriented X-Men films a fresh look and feel. Logan was fantastic, Deadpool was fantastic - each in their own ways. Now let's take the drama and pathos of Logan and the enthusiasm for the franchise from Deadpool and present an all new, modern take on the X-Men in film. No more timeline baggage, fresh faces, colorful costumes, and drama centered around themes of family, bigotry, and acceptance. |

I'm personally expecting this to not be worse than Apocalypse, my least fave. Just because this film seems it won't be overreaching for an overpowered antagonist... Fox REALLY screwed the dingo on Apocalypse's character. |

It's too bad Vaughan couldn't stick around. I didn't love First Class but there were elements I greatly enjoyed and would have been interested in seeing pursued. |
