Mikey

Here's a drawing of Mikey. I did a few others, in other styles, but I can't seem to find them anywhere. If they turn up, I'll post them. I've been criticized as being too close to the 2003 toon in style, and I don't think this helps, but. . .well, it was fun to draw. :)

Edit: Found the other one! I was trying to get away from my usual style here and make him a bit more. . . mutanty, I guess? I dunno. I still had fun drawing it.

I hope in one or another way your occupation is with artistic stuff. That first and besides that I cannot fully agree here with "being too close to the 2003 toon style".

Of course there are parts that seem similar to the 2003 style but it's obvious you have put your own style into the drawings which are crystal crisp, clean and have something I'm absolutely impressed about: This detail of depth.

Depth along with how much you put focus on anatomy and how it all fits, works and connects together: Wow! For both drawings on the inside I feel like I want to touch them - the turtles drawn on the paper, not the drawings. It's like you know the upper torso area really sits in between chest and shell.

Top notch work here in my opinion :tgrin:

Wow, really nice work, love to see some colour;)

Thank you for the kind words. I'll try not to disappoint on the request. I got a piece in the works where I'm trying out some Copic markers on. I'll post it when I'm finished.

Looks great to me! No fear of being unfavorably compared to other shows, as I think this has its own definite style!

Honestly, I can't see what is too close of the 2k3 cartoon in the first drawing ? :ohwell: Maybe the long legs ?

Nice sketches, expressive and dynamic. I look forward to the coloured versions. :)

Thanks for the support! I tried to do Mikey in another style. This time I was gunning for a meld between Fred Wolf and the Nick versions. I like the way the line art came out, but I still need a ton of practice with the coloring and inking. Also, the lack of a scanner probably doesn't help.

I would like to thank you guys for the request, as I wouldn't have tried this, otherwise. It came out of a doodle I did while bored at work and would've stayed that way.

Seems to cross the uncanny valley for me, but it might be more the coloring than the lines (especially on the eyes). I know too how color detail can be lost in the transition from original work to photo/scan. Often, I find scans seem to distort color detail moreso than cameras.

I dig it. You didn't happen to do the other three Turtles in that style, didja?

Voltron 05-10-2019 10:18 AM

I didn't, no. I should though. These were fun to draw. A lot of these are just me passing time, and a certain character will sit in my head for awhile. I have a ton of Batman sketches lying around, too.
