This is being reported as a Boba Fett origin story, but that might just mean it takes place at any point between the prequels and the start of Empire Strikes Back, likely in that sweet spot between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. At one point it was reported that Captain America: The First Avenger director Joe Johnston was pitching a Boba Fett movie. Perhaps he can be lured back in the wake of Trank's departure. Simon Kinberg is also involved, presumably as producer.
Boba Fett for the fanboys. Not sure how they can make a movie out of this, its not like the comics where they will eat up any character. Can Boba Fett really carry a movie?

CylonsKlingonsDaleksOhMy 05-04-2015 04:08 PM

Eh, could be cool...

NinjaPug 05-04-2015 05:24 PM

We already know his origin story. No thanks. Boba Fett is the most overrated SW character.

TheCanadiandrome 05-04-2015 10:05 PM

Could be interesting

Shred Head 05-05-2015 03:14 AM

Eh if there was any character that needs an origin movie its Yoda. Boba I love but we know his origin maybe if it took place after the Sarrlack pit and when he gets out and undoing the stupid slapstick death. Not to mention it would help in the recasting theres no way there going to get the guy who played Jango and the clones all those years.

Not a fan of Boba's backstory in the prequels, was a huge disappointment when we finally gets something about him.

The movie should be a "buddy cop" type movie with Bossk.

I hate the idea of origin stories but I would definitely be on board for one about Yoda.

CyberCubed 05-05-2015 11:10 AM

Wasn't there rumors of an Obi-Wan or Yoda film? Getting to see what Obi-Wan did between Epsiodes 3 and 4 would be great.

They can even cast the same actor for Obi-Wan from the prequels. He hasn't aged too badly.

It's back on.

http://www.darkhorizons.com/that-bob...oving-forward/

You'll remember this was the one that Josh Trank was doing before Kinberg snitched out Trank's behavior on Fantastic Four to Kathleen Kennedy and then everything imploded.

Allio 12-12-2017 10:19 AM

so I guess this is after part 1 of the Rian trilogy? since it seems Obi-Wan is after 9

Unlikely. That's probably entirely its own thing, whatever it is. I hope it's something to bridge the gap between VI and VII, personally.

ProactiveMan 12-12-2017 09:57 PM

I know everyone is down on it, but Boba Fett is a better idea than Solo.

Shark_Blade 12-12-2017 10:13 PM

Ew, why not Jango Fett.

Boba is so lame in Return of the Jedi. I never understood the "hype".

Andrew NDB 12-12-2017 10:56 PM

There could be a great Boba Fett movie out there. Maybe. It's not itching to be made, but it could.

Imagine Boba Fett, Judge Dredd style. Never takes off his mask. A caper/heist movie. Something after "Return of the Jedi," intercut with him taking up his father's mantle after Episode 2 and his escape from the Sarlacc Pitt after 6. High stakes.

It could work.

Andrew NDB 05-24-2018 04:38 PM

Now they've locked a director (again). James Mangold (The Wolverine/Logan).

https://www.comicbookmovie.com/sci-f...-story-a160865

That probably means this one will be 2020's SW movie.

NinjaPug 05-24-2018 05:12 PM

Mangold is definitely a huge improvement over Trank and Kinberg but a Boba Fett movie just doesn't interest me.

The most interesting thing about this news from the article from THR was that the Kenobi movie still doesn't have a writer attached.

Kenobi is nowhere near ready. It's barely a rumor at this point... no one has even talked to McGregor or anything. People have just talked about it so much over the years that everyone has convinced themselves it is in pre-production... it isn't.

I'm sure it will happen, though... it's like the only OT character movie people want to see.

CyberCubed 05-24-2018 06:32 PM

So at this point we're going to wind up with 2 Star Wars movies a year, similar to the Marvel movies. We also have Rian Johnsons new trilogy and another new trilogy.

Sumac 05-24-2018 07:21 PM

Wet dreams of fanboys coming trueeeeeeeeee!!
