Sega Announces Mega Drive Mini Console, Coming To Japan This Year
http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/a...this-year.aspx
During its annual Sega Fes event in Japan, Sega announced a new retro-style console called the Sega Mega Drive Mini. The console will launch in Japan this year. The company has not announced whether the console will make its way to the West, though it seems likely it will, though as the Sega Genesis Mini. We also did not get any information on which games will be included in the console. Sega recently licensed the console's appearance to AtGames for the Sega Genesis Flashback console, which included 85 games but suffered from both hardware and software issues. |
I only had an SNES back in the day, but I'd be interested in this.

They do but it's a third party one.

Soo... if so it serves no purpose other than I guess the fact that the shell will be designed/produced by Sega? |

To be fair, I like the two Atari Flashbacks I have of theirs, and so do many other people that I know. But I've never seen a kind word toward their Sega-branded products. |

I don't think I'll ever understand why Sega is so terrible at re-releasing their own games. |
I still own my Genesis, but if I didn't, I'd get one at a retro store than buy a wannabe third party mini version.
