Rise Official Episode Discussion S1 EP11a Stuck on You
Stuck on You
After an unfortunate "glue" accident, the Turtles have to fight a whole host of villains. |
I really liked this one, it was very funny. Shout out to that bust of series co-creator Andy Suriano in the museum. :tlol:

What they were after was some sort of full arm gauntlet that enhanced the strength of its bearer & granted some sort of energy blasting power. Didn't look particularly Shredderish & ultimately did not remain in their possession, so I don't believe it to be related to to their master, necessarily. Could be wrong, though.

I guess the worm might become more of an actual foe later? Would rather that the magic armor piece indicated something better... Though I guess it could always be reclaimed from him later while he continues to fail as a villain.
Yeah, not sure why this was referred to as a "glue accident" when Raph did it on purpose, trapping them all in what is essentially a very not glue-like giant ping pong ball just for some "team building" idea. And not too sure how effective that method is when the importance of your need to learn to work together better in a fight should be benefiting your use of martial arts... Lost opportunity to have them actually learn to fight together in sync while actually taking on a legit "whole host of villains" at once, not one at a time as usual. Via maybe just being stuck together, rather than inside some giant, very restricting orb... edit: You know, paint it black and white and it's a perfect image of social commentary on "soccer moms" protesting the "violence" of the Turtles' fighting and use of ninja skills and weapons. |
Alright, it's decided. Raph isn't just stupid, he's a fullblown jackass.
Anyway, the last gauntlet the Foot was after was for a left hand, this was for a right hand. At first I thought that means they're part of a set but one is clearly bigger than the other... Soooo...? |
1) I wonder what was in the coffin that Hypno Potamus is trying to open. 2) It looks like Warren Stone is going to become a Not So Harmless Villain. 3) Think that the mutant villains will form their own "Legion of Doom"?

So can a mod change it please. |
I laughed quite a few times during this one but the plot was a bit confusing as I thought it was a glue accident.
|
I liked how the story played out, how Raph was using the whole issue as a misguided attempt at having them act more like a team. And everyone is complaining the whole way through about how they can't work together in that condition. Then when they are all finally free Raph is the only one who is bummed that the ball containing them is broken. So when he gets hit by that gauntlet blast, he isn't so much hurt by the blast so much as he's hurt by the fact his brothers couldn't see what he was trying to do.
And that compels them to recreate that ball thing so they could take out the Foot Clan together. While the whole premise is meh...I do find this to be one of the better stories released thus far. |
I did laugh a few times in this episode. I think this one might be second for me after Origami Tsunami. Leo once again showed leadership while Raph was hypnotized. He definitely has a different view of teamwork than Raph does, lol. I'm already waiting for him to become the leader already.

Wow they really got them self in a stick potion. Also I think there might be a war going on between the foot and Warren stone
|
Since no one pointed it out. I should let you all know that this episode is now on the Nickelodeon Youtube channel.

I kinda enjoyed this episode. It was silly, yeah, and Raph's idea wasn't the best (because as someone already pointed here, it didn't improve their fighting) but I found it endearing. I just wish they'd stop making the turtles acknowledge that Raph's plans aren't the best ones every single episode. I mean, come on, did they make Raph be the leader just for the sake of puting him dow? :/

I agree, if their plan really is to have Leo step up later, this really isn't the best way to go about it. It's exactly what some people feared prior to this show premiering and it seems to be panning out exactly that way. :ohwell:
Raph's ideas don't have to be dumb in order to just get across that maybe he just lacks the more detailed planning, foresight, and strategy that tend to be Leo's strengths. With Raph's usual "act now, think later" personality, why not just give him at some half decent initial ideas that are a good start, but fall a bit short because it really isn't in his nature to take the time to fully think it through due to his more eager nature, in which case Leo can step in mid-fight and fill in the gaps and tie up those loose ends with his added ideas, while helping Raph instead better utilize his strengths as the linebacker of the team. |
