15th anniversary of the 2003–2009 series debut

It's February 2018, and 15 years have passed since the 2003–2009 TMNT series debuted in the USA over Foxbox on 8 February 2003. It would air for 7 seasons until ending on 28 February 2009, finally followed up by "Turtles Forever" in November 2009.

This is a general 15th anniversary thread for this series, to discuss memories, favourite moments and everything else about series.

To celebrate, I'm going to head over to my local BestBuy and drop some money to buy the entire series on DVD, everyone!

I'll definitely watch an episode tonight with some whisky as I wind down.

Hmm... which episode to watch...

Does anyone know the first UK airdate and what channel it was pn (I presume Fox Kids)

Fantastic show, my favorite, no doubt! I'll rewatch today the first episode!!!

I remember when it aired I was nervous, didn't know if it'd be a good show, I liked it from the first episode.

In Latin america we only got the two first seasons, so I missed the other ones, then they start airing btts and ff.

When living in London I watched it as part of a segment of a show
called "Up on the roof".

Pretty sure that was on ITV/CITV and was renamed Toonatik around season 4

Does anyone have any links to any footage or news reports from 2002 right before the series started teasing it? Like, when the voice actors were announced, or when the art was first revealed?

Google, and set the latest date to February 2003. You can also use wayback to search the old Ninjaturtles website.

You can also try Mutantooze, an attempt to keep the old Ninjaturtles website.

Not much was going on in the world of TMNT up to the lead up of this show's premiere. I remember knowing it was coming and being hyped in advance, due to the limited internet connectivity I had, but I didn't exactly know when.

Months later, I remember browsing the Fox channel thinking "Hey, isn't that TMNT show supposed to premiere on this channel eventually? Maybe I'll see an ad" Low and behold, a minute later the commercial pops up encouraging everyone to 'catch the premiere' later this morning.

Perfect timing.

I was fascinated by the quick snippet of Leonardo's new voice pronouncing "be ready for anything". I had read/loved the Mirage comics, but compared to the FW Leonardo voice I was used to, this sounded confident, determined, maybe a little more dangerous. The foot looked more like ninjas. Not what I was expecting, but very exciting.

Anyway, I was mostly on board from there. I could nitpick this show all day long, but there's a lot I admire about it as well. It's not perfect but it probably helped to show that the TMNT can be more than just the Fred Wolf toon.

I had Internet access, but no broadband back in February 2003, and knew absolutely nothing at the time. To me, TMNT was just a childhood memory. I'd kept the videotapes with the original series, my Archie-Fleetway comics and storybooks as well the few action-figures I had. I knew nothing about Mirage.

Didn't discover it until much late during 2003, some few weeks before Christmas.

I can't believe I was only 17 when this show debuted. I was an older teen so in the right "age range" this show was being aimed at, both kids and older teens who wanted a more serious or action-driven show.

It's also hard to believe this series is 15 YEARS old. I remember when this was considered the "new" TMNT show. I remember people couldn't believe TMNT actually came back. I mean just think how different the year 2003 is compared to now.

God it's mind blowing, I was still in High School when this show came out, yet I think of it as "recent." The passage of time blows my mind.

Looks like Nick's TMNT social media did remember that the show premiered 15 years ago: https://twitter.com/TMNT/status/961646344963321856

I remember seeing on the old tmnt website that a new show was coming with new toys, and I was super stoked to introduce my kid brothers to it.

I didn't have DVD player until February 2004. Bought some TMNT, both the original series and 4 Kids.

I can't decide on an episode. First one to suggest an episode to me, I'll watch that one.

If no one decides... well, my feelings will be hurt. Very hurt.

To be fair, the guy who runs that twitter is probably in his 20's and is a young person at Nick, he posts all sorts of memes and TMNT images from everything.
