HUGE fan you are !!

Wow! This is definitely a jaw-dropping collection!

TheMasterTurtle 02-26-2014 09:02 AM

Thank you all - I really enjoy having an outlet to share my collection. Although it is for me, knowing so many people out there also find enjoyment from it is rewarding.

Onto bigger news, I splurged again when I got access to some good deals. Included below are many B and RI covers for various issues between 6-30, Cover A for Villians 1-8 plus Shredder SUB which I plan to have Eastman draw on in March, Animated 1-7, Eastman Annual and Cover Gallery, X files crossover, Utrom Empire, History of the foot 1-4, and lastly Volume 1 Issue 2 Second Printing which I got for a HELL of a deal in the condition that it's in (I appreciate your expertise MrPliggins)

Thanks for the continued positive feedback! I've got a huge, close to 70 book addition for this posting from over about the last month. This large haul is compiled from a few small eBay purchases, 2 comic shops & a small convention in Wisconsin, and last but not least from our own Powder.

http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9op8ffzn.jpgHere you'll find a variety of B covers, retailer incentives, and some second prints from issues 1-27

http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/...psgjp4r12y.jpg This pic shows all the micros and side stories. As above this includes a large mix of covers

http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/...psxerks5ri.jpg The last comic related pic has some key issues and some things I needed to complete some runs. Archie adventures #49 and the much rarer #71 which I had as a kid and was stolen. Also I've completed my Mighty Mutanimals run by finding issue #9 as well as the remaining training guides to wrap that collection too.

http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/...psn4fyifav.jpg I'm thrilled to have found this great Ecto 1 cel from RGB. It's great looking but also an oversized panoramic which I've never seen of the Ecto. Below it is a group shot of the guys I already had for comparison. I'll be getting lots of stuff framed over the next few months to hang in my basement of my new house I'm remodeling.

Look for a few more updates in a week or two. I found The Tick 1-12 first prints at that comic show as well but am waiting for some magazine size mylars for this and my oversized TMNT books before I post. I also have another package coming in the mail and 2 conventions in the next 3 weeks!

Happy Hunting everyone

Nice comic additions! I picked up that 1986 Gobbledygook within the last 4 or 5 months and it's a nice addition to any collection! I absolutely LOVE that Ecto-1 cel you scored- A-MAZE-ing!!! Did you get a decent deal on The Tick comics, I've noticed that the #1 1st printing seems to hover around $40-$50 range for the nicer quality issues? Anyway, very nice stuff!

TheCanadiandrome 03-21-2014 02:22 AM

Great stuff as usual dude! I love your TMNT blanket

I got gook at a comic show for $5 bucks so I couldn't pass it up. I saw that Ecto cel and jumped on it. I've seen nice Ecto cels before but never this large or in this quality. The Tick was a steal and again because the condition is so nice. I'll post pics soon as I get them bagged and boarded. You're right about the price range. I went to the convention the minute the door opened and I saw it sitting on shelf of a big booth. from a distance didn't realize all first 12 were in the bag together (not ideal from a storage standpoint but he must not have had them bundled for long because their shape is phenomenal). Anyway they were priced at $60 bucks! I opened my wallet right away and told the guy I'd take them and he said "yeah ok you got a steal because I was just about to go around and update all my prices and this was going to be $100."

Thank you. It was a gift for Christmas from my sister and it's actually one of the most comfortable blankets I own. My fiancé loves it and the minute I was able to get her into turtle anything I considered it a success :)

Plasticplayhouse 03-21-2014 10:23 AM

dude, that Ecto cell is awesome!!!! nice find :)

TheMasterTurtle 03-21-2014 12:44 PM

Thanks and now that you mention it I'll ask you guys. I'll be framing some of my cels to hang in my entertainment room, Ecto and the busters included. I was considering framing options and want some opinions...

a) white matte w/ red frame
b) black matte w/ red frame
c) red matte w/ white frame
d) red matte w/ black frame

or open to other options!

Some more pics - I wouldnt call this an update but a change. I received my shipment of mylars so I went through and boarded and bagged my recent Tick run acquisition and my oversized Mirage books.

http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/...psk5d2zxkw.jpg
The Tick first printing run 1-12 plus two I got for a dollar

http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/...psw9qqe5fq.jpg
TMNT #1 - First Printing, TMNT #2 - First Printing, TMNT #2 - Second Printing, TMNT #3 - First Printing, TMNT #4 - First Printing, Raphael Micro - First Printing, & Fugitoid - First Printing.

I just LOVE how Mylars make these and all my other books look in the sleeve. The look plus never having to replace the bags again just make the little extra cost worth it for me.

I think your collection could give the Geppi a run for it's money...

Totally awesome in every way!

Another edition of updates everybody. This past weekend I went to the DLUX Expo in Michigan.

From a fan standpoint it was rather amazing but from a financial/ promoter standpoint it had to be a huge disappointment. It wasn't busy at all, not lots of vendors, some no shows for celebs. Again from the fan standpoint I got to meet AND spend time with every celeb there which usually isn't the case. We talked a lot about everything which was refreshing. There was never that rush to be anywhere because the celebs were casually walking amongst the crowds. Here are my weekend scores as well as an extra that was at my doorstep when I got home.

Incomplete Foot Cruiser - $10 bucks. I'll be flipping this and finally making a car for my neutrinos. Whenever I find them on eBay for cheap they are always missing the windshield and never this cheap.

Meeting Greg Berg (Alt. Donnie & Bebop voices) & Claudia Wells (BTTF Jennifer Parker)
Greg was cool but this was only his second event where he was there for the turtles and he seemed out of his element. Claudia was out of place since this was a TMNT, Comic, Wrestling, & Martial Arts show. I have no idea where she fit in but whatever - I met her.

Meeting Goldberg & Jake the Snake - I'm not a wrestling fan anymore BUT I still love me some 80's, 90's stars. Goldberg was VERY cool and willing to get up and pose as you can see. Jake was funny but definitely didnt want much to do with you unless you opened your wallet. Still glad I was able to meet him.

Kevin Nash aka Super Shredder - I've heard over the years he's not a nice guy but he was a thrill to meet. He might have been more nice to me because I brought some fun stuff to the table. He loved that I brought a pic of Super Shredder and it seems I was the only one all weekend who thought to because as I was walking around the event lots of people asked me where I got that picture and I told them I brought it. Secondly, the "trio" picture I have from Nash I made by compiling images. He LOVED it and stopped to stare at it also asking where I got it. He gave me a business card and told me he would love to start using it as a promo sheet so I should email him.

Meeting Rich from Partners in Kryme - He was very cools and willing to hang out. I had him sign the Turtle Power LP that I just got along with Eastman. I have some videos of him performing "Turtle Power" and a new song "Rock the Half-Shell" if anyone is interested. I'll be honest though they aren't amazing performances - more comedic.

Meeting Ernie Reyes JR (Keno) - VERY cool. He was a pleasure to hang out with and loved to talk to his fans. I was a little disappointed in the event because of the confusion the celebrities had. Ernie would sign anything you wanted for free but I HAD to pay for an autograph according to the show workers at the front of the event. I bought a pass to have Ernie autograph something and when I went to give him the pass he said "dont worry about it, I'll sign whatever you have."

TheMasterTurtle 03-31-2014 11:44 AM

My Eastman Sandwich (his joke, not mine) - They were both awesome again. I met Kevin this past year at NYCC for the first time and although it was busy he still gave us a little time to talk. This time with nothing going on they were chatter boxes. Each fan talked with him for 10 minutes or so if they wanted. They walked around the event casually and just hung out with you. Same as Ernie, Kevin was only supposed to sign if you handed him a paid voucher. Well he didnt listen and signed everything we wanted. Why? Because hes awesome and appreciates his fans. He always publically thanks us and knows without us, he wouldnt be where he is.

I had a variety of things I wanted him to sign but didnt bring as much because I thought each one was going to cost me. Luckily I had some random things and was staying with my friends in MI who also had an old VHS for me to take.
Signed by Eastman, Reyes, and Rich from PIN

My "Convention" Hat which I wear to every Con and a photo the event was giving away with both Kevin and Courtney (signed respectively).

The story and the haul - I went 2 of the 3 days because some people were appearing on Friday and others Saturday but I knew Kevin would be there both so I hoped for an autograph and a quick sketch. By then end of the weekend I was on a first name basis with both of them and we got to joke around lot - here's why. On Friday I had him sign his Cover Gallery, My Hat, and do a Shredder Sketch on the Shredder Micro. While I was waiting in line to meet him I swore I saw some sketched covers he had done but all his Merch was packed away after an argument with the promoter because of how confusing the event was. When it was my turn I talked a little, gave Kev my books and he began to sketch Shredder when I asked Courtney about those covers I thought I saw. She said "oh yeah here you go." She handed me SHOTF with an amazing Shredder and Annual w/Masks with Leo. I was giddy and wanted both because of the amazing work and since I'm working on completely by IDW covers. We talked price for a minute and we agreed on something and I walked away with the books and I was ecstatic. Here they are and story continues below....

Story continued... The guy who ran Detroit Fanfare was there and had a lot of his blank covers for great prices. I didn't know this but there were 2 versions, Matte and glossy. I bought one of each on Friday and I wanted to have Kevin Sketch on one saturday. You can see above I had him do Splinter and I left the other blank for the future. When I went in line to have this done I was still debating what to have him do so I wanted to let him know who I had art of already and who he could do quickly to have a variety of characters in his style. When I approached I talked to them again and told them that I was the guy who bought the sketched books the day before at which point they started laughing and said "you're the guy who got the deal." I was confused and I guess when I did the credit card swipe Courtney under charged me for the books by a lot. I told them I would gladly pay the difference and because of that, Kevin said he appreciated my honesty, would do more than just a Splinter head. Courtney said she would give me 2 flats from his art books because of being so honest. I saw the prices they had on the flats and looked over at the comics and asked if I could look through the comics instead and they said sure - pick two. To my surprise they had the two in the picture below that they just gave me. So through all this we had casual convos and jokes. I told them I happened to be going to a convention next week that they would be at and that if they brought more sketch books Id be interested. They said "Hans, we will bring some for you. Thanks again for being honest and we look forward to seeing you next weekend again."

As always his certificate of authenticity on the back...

All in all I had a great weekend, spent some quality time with some people that I may never get to again, added some much needed books to my collection, all of which have stellar artwork on them.

Just as a small bonus I came home to these last night! My weekend ended with bagging and boarding my new pieces!

I hope everyone enjoyed!

Redrumh2o 03-31-2014 12:42 PM
