R.I.P. June Foray
It is with great sadness that the amazingly talented and legendary voice actress June Foray has passed away at age 99.
https://twitter.com/BTVA/status/890424947797110784 The woman created a remarkable legacy over several decades by voicing characters such as Rocky the Flying Squirrel, Natasha Fatale, Cindy Lou Who, Jokey Smurf, Granny from Looney Tunes, Lucifer from Cinderella and Grandmother Fa from Mulan, just to name a few. There might never be another woman like her. R.I.P. |
No way! She had been in such good health. Loved the Talk in Toon episode with her. She is an underrated super star because of her being a voice actor. She arguably had more of a range than Mel Bland and is greatest female voice actor ever, if not overall. A true jewel is lost and I hope .ore peooke become aware of her immense behind the screen talent.
Edit: It appears to be a hoax exclusive to Twitter. I hope she gets two more months to hit 100. http://en.mediamass.net/people/june-...deathhoax.html |

Aww, man :( . I was actually wondering how long she'd go. Too bad she didn't make it to the big 100.
She was even still performing from time to time at the present time. |
Ranger Scout, that is why I edited my post as I researched it as soon as I posted to see it was exclusive to Twitter.
Utrom, I am glad to say this unsung legend is still with us,chasing 100. |

ETA: Plus, some of her other colleagues confirmed it. https://twitter.com/BobBergen/status/890416861199777792 https://twitter.com/Jewelshepard/sta...26533755498496 |
This is getting confusing. It's a testament to how unreliable computer based media can be. I wanted squirrel to live on to 100.

Had the pleasure of meeting June a number of years ago at SDCC and getting a signed autobiography. They even did a voice panel read through with her at the same con. Such a lovely lady, she will be missed.

Nooo!!! Not Rocky!!! :(

I'd actually been thinking about her a lot lately, knowing how close she was coming to making the big 100, guess I'll just have to be thankful she got as long as she got, & the contributions she made to my childhood, two of my favorites in the cartoon world, Rocky from Rocky & Bullwinkle (plus Natasha & many other female characters), Splinter/Knothead from Woody Woodpecker, plus the hundreds of other roles I'd seen her in in the works from Warner Brothers, Hanna-Barbera, Rankin-Bass, Disney, etc... Thank You so much June for helping make my childhood worthwhile & giving me treasures from the past to carry with me into the future & for going on as long as you did, was a pleasure getting to be in the world with you, being alive with a living legend like you for as long as I have, Hokey Smokes, what an honor. I'll see you in heaven, along with Bill Scott, Jay Ward, Walter Lantz, Grace Stafford, Mel Blanc, & everyone else up there now with you.

Dreaded this day. She was one of the greats and will be missed.
BUT...she was doing what she loved almost up until she died. 99 years. Heck of a ride. |

As an animation fan, a voice acting fan, and just as a human being overall, I'm really sad to hear this news. Truly an amazing legacy that many up and coming performers can only dream of. She was truly talented and that talent was only matched by her professionalism and kindness. Writer Mark Evanier has written quite a few anecdotes about her over the years on his blog for those interested. One of my favorites is when June was trying to explain the importance of showing up early to a recording session to a new inexperienced actor...but said actor kept failing to understand why only constantly repeating "But I showed up on time!". http://www.newsfromme.com/?s=June+Foray |
I had the honor of hearing her speak several times at SDCC, and...wow, what an amazing woman. The world is a dimmer place without her.
She'll be missed. |
Such sad news. This woman voiced some of my favorite characters and she truly had amazing talent. Not a lot of people know her name but they had most certainly known her voice. She was kind enough to personalize an autograph for me last year. She'll be deeply missed but she's left an amazing legacy behind her.

Here's what Townsend Coleman had to say:

Such sad news indeed. She will be missed and was part of my childhood and beyond growing up.

RIP! She had a nice, long life. We will all miss you. One of my favs.

What many people never knew is that originally she was the voice of Karen from Frosty the Snowman. However, after a couple of airings, her voice was replaced by an unknown actress. She never knew the reason why this happened, but she was still glad to be a part of the special. She voiced the Teacher and some of the children. However, someone on Youtube was able to recreate the special using her voice as Karen from the rare Rhino Records CD as the primary source.

Honestly...I can kind of see why they switched the voice.
