I actually wouldn't mind that. I like when they do unexpected things as such.

crossing fingers really hard paint omission isn't going to suffer too much.
Next show they should just not have turtles with hand wraps, toy wise those are the first paint apps to go.

Well, it does appear to be him, guess he'll be the villain then?

Huzzah 01-28-2017 08:08 AM

Well let's see, two new figures, like three villain repaints, no Muckman, and a ton of Turtle Variants. Is Playmates even trying anymore?

It's the fate of every TMNT line- endless variants.

And no Demodragon figure, huh?

TurtleWA 01-28-2017 09:05 AM

Yeah I'm slowly adjusting my expectations so I don't become so disappointed after NYC toy fair. I guess I should just assume lots of turtle variants from a toy line with turtles in its name. But it would be really great to at least get one new non turtle character for say every two or three turtle variants. I wonder why the next wave of WWE figures didn't show up at the London toy fair? Also am curious if perhaps Muckman would be North America exclusive. But thinking it would never happen.

Is that an undercover turtle in there ?

Wretched Reptile 01-28-2017 10:47 AM

Just a heads up - some Walmarts may be accidentally (or even intentionally?) liquidating the new "Tales" wave with the Dark Turtles and Super Shredder. I got all 5 for $5 each in the clearance section. Seems very strange since these are relatively new.

Just a heads up to anyone else who may be interested. May have been a fluke at that store but I don't know... it's worth keeping an eye out if you're wanting these.

Huzzah 01-28-2017 11:10 AM

Not too unusual, a lot of times when they do their clearance it's usually marking stuff as fast as they can without separating series/waves. It's why I was able to get a couple of newer Marvel Legends figures at the 4 dollar markdown that one of my local Walmarts was selling a couple of older waves for, and often they're in store markdowns, not official from home office, so you won't see the same prices store by store.

I saw a bunch of these today at a Walmart, too. Didn't know they were releasing wide already. They weren't in clearance, though...nice score!

Looks like Don got the shaft again. The Franken-Don design was the best looking of the bunch. Instead he gets to be the mummy while Leo gets to be Van Helsing.

Bebop & Rocksteady are actually new sculpts, wearing the clothes of their OT counterparts (if that's what you were referring to)

Usagi does not look great. Bummer.

And I'll take it that next to Usagi is someone from that world as well? Not that familiar with those characters sorry...

I have a feeling this guy is not a fan of TMNT. Only showed 2 seconds of the Playmates display, yet gets closeups of the Funko, Marvel, DC, and pretty much everything else

To me they simply looked like repaints, but I likely could be wrong.

You mean the vintage ones? That was Franken-Mikey, and yes, he had the best design ;)

I think Walmarts are putting all of their overstock on clearance. Those figures weren't that cheap at mine, but I did get a normally $30-40 Wii U game for a fiver.

Proof's in the pudding! :tgrin: You can see Bebop's in a red vest, Rocksteady in a yellow tank top with bullet straps & a millitary helmet, etc.

Not sure if I love it or hate it, personally. The Fred Wolfisms reached a point of overkill a long time ago... but it's cool to see them this way.

Hmm... I might actually be interested enough to rebuy Bebop in the punk outfit.

Candy Kappa 01-29-2017 03:35 PM

Punk Bebop looks fairly taller then the Turtles, that is a plus.

I love it. I've always been fine with Rocksteady's design, but I never really got on board with Michael Jackson in Tron. Hopefully these designs are used in the show.

I'm trying to think of any other characters that would benefit from a more Fred Wolf based look. They already did it with April, but I'm thinking anyone else would be getting a definite downgrade.
