Songs that were played all the time on the radio/tv/movies when you were a kid/teen
You know how some songs get SO POPULAR that they play them virtually everywhere for the span of 6 months to a year to the point where you get sick of hearing it...and then after a while the song sort of disappears and nobody talks about it much anymore outside huge fans?
There were so many of these from when I was a kid/teen or in my 20's: - Who let the Dogs out? - How do I live without you? I want to know - We are Family. My brothers and my sisters and me! - Why can't we be friends? Why can't we be friends? - Hit me Baby one more time! - Teenage Dream - Hey oh, let's go! - My achy breaky heart! - Wind Beneath my Wings, Soar higher than an eagle - I will always love you - Whitney Houston - You are not alone - Thriller - Eye of the Tiger - Spice Girls songs like "Tell me what you want" And more recently a few summers ago, "Call me maybe!" |

Anyway, the song I can remember playing the most is All Star by Smash Mouth. |
Hmm bit of Nostalgia..... My sister and I were playing songs just last week from the late 90's... and ended up in that 80's..
There were loads of songs...but some of them... 16 weeks at number one (here) - 1991 Bryan Adams 'Everything I do I do it for you. Played to death on the radio, but I still liked it. Spice girls, wanna be... I was so sick of that. Shy Guy, I hated that. Wind Beneath my Wings. I think that became a popular funeral song at time. NKOTB - The right stuff. The Bodyguard soundtrack was popular in the early 90s and the Dirty Dancing soundtrack in the late 80's The list could go on... but I won't :) |
When I think "overplayed" in my youth I go to "How You Remind Me" by Nickelback and "Ironic" by Alanis Morissette.

Well I was born in 1990, so I remember several songs form the mid-late 90s. Not gonna list obvious ones such as Smells Like teen Spirit by Nirvana.
Here's two I remember in particular that seem to have been forgotten by most people: Spoiler:
