Green Lantern Corps

Quote:

The movie previously announced as Green Lantern will instead be Green Lantern Corps, Warner Bros announced at their San Diego Comic-Con 2015 panel Saturday. The film will presumably keep its June 19, 2020 release date, meaning it's still a bit off (and the current final film of WB/DCE's announced schedule).

Along with the film's name change, an image was shown featuring a large group of Green Lanterns, including multiple Earth-bound GLs, something rumors have been pointing to for the last few weeks.

No casting or crew information was released about the film.

Rumors are Chris Pine and Tyrese for the two earth Lanterns.

While I really couldn't care less about Green Lantern, I'm VERY pleased to see that DC and Warner Bros understand EXACTLY how to make up for that terrible atrocity from 2011.

Apparently, one film studio is actually smart enough to learn from its mistakes!!!

I actually liked the first one but I know what's wrong with it. That said, this sounds like a great way to reboot the thing and make it fit with new DCU.

Guy Gardner or We Riot.

NinjaPug 07-11-2015 06:19 PM

Tyrese as John Stewart? No thanks.

I would like to see Ch'p show up in this movie too, Marvel has Rocket Raccoon. Ch'p kind of looks like a squirrel or chipmunk, and he's one of the members of the Green Lantern Corps.

Might as well riot for Kyle too if they're gonna go ahead and call it Green Lantern Corps.

I would rather they cast Pine for Steve Trevor.

CyberCubed 07-11-2015 07:52 PM

2020 release date? Why on earth would they announce something now so far away? All the actors will be 5 years older by then, how do they even know they'll still be capable of the roles 5 years from now?

Might not happen now. "There's a whole recalibration going on now."

Vegita-San 01-09-2018 05:51 PM

good. i don't need to see depressed batman style green lantern killing criminals.

Autbot_Benz 01-09-2018 06:16 PM

Shame I have always wanted to see a live action Jon Stewart.

CylonsKlingonsDaleksOhMy 01-09-2018 06:16 PM

I really hope this gets made. It NEEDS to happen.

And I'm not even a Green Lantern fan.

MikeandRaph87 01-09-2018 06:19 PM

I have said before Aquaman and Green Corps are the two projects thst interest me. Sure, the convoluted origin of Green Lantern did not digest well and eas rushed (Parallax presence prime example of both) and Hector Hammond is uninteresting. Yet I am a fan of Hal Jordan and like to see what can be done. The Death Wish in space concept had me sold. Hal deserves a second shot and I welcome John Stewart onboard for the next ride.

It could be buddy-cop stories in space with all kinds of alien creatures, ships, etc. Maybe some Guardians of the Galaxy style humor every once in a while.

I don't understand why the studio hasn't run the concept into the ground already.

What I don't get is, why did WB block GLs from being used in Arrow and Flash... only to be too chickenshit to do anything with GLs (yes, I'm aware of the do-nothing cameo in it) in their Justice League movie? Why on earth would I care about a JL movie with no GL in it?

For sure. What even scared them off in the first place? What happened to "Unite the Seven?"

Autbot_Benz 01-10-2018 11:47 AM

Either Make a GL Movie or let CW or DC Streaming do a Green Lantern show

MikeandRaph87 01-10-2018 12:00 PM

The Green Lantern(2011) film was not that bad and how could it be the fuel to avoid Green Lantern? It is not Batman & Robin level more like Daredevil(2003) level. Let the filmmaker make his/her movie and don't cram too much in or it will all feel wasted. I am still hopeful for a Hal Jordan/John Stewart buddy cop in space film. No convoluted origin, watch the budget and it will be fine. I still don't see why the performance of any movie would bar a character from a group that always includes him if not one of his number. That makes even less sense.

They got chickenshit as soon as they made those posters. "The world isn't ready for more Green Lantern yet!" Please.

I thought it had more to do with them eliminating part 2 of Snyder's JL plan. I remember reading rumors that the end in the original script was going to have GL come to Earth after the JL defeated Steppenwolf to let them know Darkseid was coming.
