TMNT IDW Collections

Hello, now that I've read through most of Mirage "Volume One", I'm getting into the IDW TMNT comics via the hardcover collected editions. I gather that these include everything in this series, even cross-overs and one-shots (I included descriptions I found of their content listings below).

I don't see the Deviations one-shot in these listings. Is that not going to be collected in these editions? Is there anything else that will also not be collected? If there are going to be exceptions to what's included I will have to be on the lookout for those.

Thanks for your answers. :tsmile:

No, deviations is not included.

Since it's a deviation. I don't expect the 20/20 issue will be in a collection either.

You've pretty much picked the best way to read the IDW run though!

Chet 03-03-2019 03:48 AM

Thank you, I will put 20/20 on my list too

Shedder 03-03-2019 05:41 AM

Basically anything not seen as cannon.
The Batman crossover books and infestation 2 will not be included

Chet 03-03-2019 11:38 AM

Thank you for that info as well

-Deviations (single issue)
-20/20 (single issue)
-TMNT/Batman Crossover One (6 issue series)
-TMNT/Batman Crossover Two (6 issue series)
-Infestation Two (series)

DC put out nice hardcover collections of the Batman/TMNT crossovers, get those.

Chet 03-04-2019 05:16 AM

What about the X-Files crossover? I assume the Batman crossover isn't canon because DC is involved and the Ghostbusters is because it's an IDW property. Is X-Files also IDW?

Shedder 03-04-2019 05:26 AM

It is idw and it isn't cannon. Forgot about that one.
There's also the 30th anniversary book which has new small stories from all the volumes that have come.
The idw storey in it is cannon but I don't know if it ever got republished

It did, in the first hardback collection.

Adding to this, volumes 8 to 11/12 are including the backup strips from the Universe series.

Yep. Volume 8 had the backup stories, can confirm.

All that being said, does anyone know what happened to old thread discussing the collections hardbacks? It seemed to disappear a couple of years ago along with a bunch of other threads and I think it was a group of users ( can't recall who exactly) discussing which issues would be in the upcoming volumes of the collection.

We were actually cluttering up the "upcoming release dates" thread. :tlol:

It's nice having a singular dedicated thread to this topic now...

Ah, I see. Admittedly that was before I was able to post on here, so I kinda lost track a bit back then.
I do agree that a dedicated thread is better though, because upcoming release/ solicitations thread will always go 'out of date' for lack of a better way of wording it.

So we know that Volume 9 will feature issues 67 - 72, Universe 9 - 15, the Usagi Yojimbo crossover and most likely the Prey back-up, but how do you guys think the following volumes will be divided up?
I've worked out the following, but it's also hard working out where the various back-up stories go, however they'll be spread out in some fashion across Volumes 10 and 11:

Volume 10 (Krang cover)
73 - 75, Universe 19 - 20, Ghostbusters II 1 - 5, FCBD'17, Dimension X 1 - 5

Volume 11 (Triceraton/ Rat King cover?)
76 - 84, Universe 16 - 18 + 21 - 25

Volume 12 (Bishop cover?)
85 - 89, Hit the Road 1 - 5, Macro 1 - 4

Volume 13 (Karai cover?)
90 - 100, Shredder in Hell 1 - 5, FCBD'19

I think it's also safe to say that #100 will be at least a double length issue if not bigger, but naturally there's no guarantee.:tsmile:

I'm anticipating Casey being the cover of Volume 11, actually... just a hunch. :tgrin:

And Volume 12, Old Hob or Bishop, it's a toss-up. (Personally, I think Hob is long overdue...)

Everything else is pretty much equal to my own thoughts.

Those are good choices, although I feel like there are more well known characters than Hob.
And admittedly I was basing my guesses on who featured significantly within each volumes issues as (and I could be totally wrong) I think the characters have been chosen for particular arcs previously, ie: Leo for City Fall, Shredder for Vengeance or Bebop + Rocksteady for Destroy Everything for example.

Yeah, but April for Volume 5? There are outliers. That's why I figure Casey. He's kind of important in the Triceraton invasion, fighting on the streets alongside Hun...

There isn't anybody as important as Hob who hasn't featured on a cover yet. Bishop has to come second, just because we never saw Bishop until Issue #54, and Hob's been kickin' it since Issue #1.

CyberCubed 03-06-2019 02:48 PM

Besides a few covers I don't really see why people care for covers so much, all the main cast have been on it by now, so it doesn't really matter. I mean how often do you look at a cover before you open the book?
