Oh my god, why? I thought we were done! This raises so many questions.

You wanna make another TMNT movie? Fine! But why go with the producers again? Nobody liked the first two and the second didn't even break even, why entrust the same producers a third time? Is this a Fant4stic scenario or some crap? Do they have to make a TMNT movie every 5 years or something? That's the only way I can make sense of this, that or some kind of tax write-off.

The only good(?) news is that the hired a brand new script writer. While he really only has one movie under his belt, at lest it seemed somewhat well received (I guess I'll check it out once I know for whter or not this movie gets made. The weird thing is that he's making Space Jam 2. What's with this guy and writing sequels nobpdy asked for? Anyway, he can't be much worse than the previous writers.

Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec were awful at writing TMNT, the former wrote one single movie before TMNT and the other was basically only involved with television before. Evan Daugherty wasn't much better, though I suspect he or Jonathan Liebesman might have been the reason the first one didn't suck quite as hard. He's not good but Jonathan Liebesman is at least far more experienced than Dave Green, so that might just be it. Not that I want either back in the director's chair.

In terms of writer and director... I don't know... There might not be many critically acclaimed directors who'd want to make TMNT movies, but there's gotta be someone with a track record of OK movies, right? Like a Ron Howard. And maybe you need an experienced screen writer as well (though the previous ones barely qualified) but if they insisted on multiple writers before, why not bring someone familiar with the material. Bring in Tom Waltz or Paul Allor or someone, I have no idea how they're as screen writers but at least then I'd be confident the characters wouldn't annoy me as much.

Surprising news, we were all speculating a few years away. Well, Dunes puts a damper on it.. but in these early days... I'm actually feeling... some excitement (which could be killed later on) Sorry guys, I wanted more turtles than just having Rise, so this is something... depends what the do. .. maybe they will be taking PD complaints into consideration while doing this?

ZacksSoUgly 06-20-2018 02:20 PM

I can't help but be excited any time that anything new TMNT is announced. On the flip side of that coin, I can't help but be disheartened when I see that PD is still attached.

To be fair, though, I enjoyed Out of the Shadows. Megan Fox was still an abomination onscreen, but she wasn't there as much as the first one. Casey Jones being a cop broke my heart and Amell wasn't that good anyways, but I feel like they got SOME things right. The Turtles were the focus of the story, they got the personalities right (mostly - Leo was a bit too much of a dick), and the Turtles confronting their alienation from the city they protect was poignant. There was some good stuff to build on for a third movie, especially if they brought a legit Shredder back into the fold.

I feel like most of us would like to see them just scrap the last two and move forward with a fresh start, though.

I'm not familiar with this writer or the movie he worked on. Here's hoping he turns in a quality screenplay.

and I hope they bring back Bebop and Rocksteady. They were great in OOTS.

This gives absolutely no indication of how this movie will turn out, but for anyone, like me, who is fascinated with following the development of TMNT movies, maybe you'd like to see an interview with the writer.

For the next couple of weeks and months. Its gonna be interesting to find out who they get as the director. And if Megan Fox, Stephen Amell, and Will Arnett will reprise there roles.

OOTS ends with Shredder being frozen. and Krang and the Technodrome being sucked back into Dimension X. So who knows where they will take a 3rd film.

It’s a reboot so not likely that even the turtle actors will be back.

Maybe a soft reboot. I don't want them doing another origin story. Those characters can just be recast if anything.

neatoman 06-20-2018 02:35 PM

And further more, guess what other movie PD is making right now? A live-action adaptation of Dora the Explorer. That's right, the studio that mainly makes movies about how people have to go on a murder spree once a year for psychological health, is making a movie based Spanish education for toddlers. It's going to be written by Nicholas Stoller, who also wrote
  • Fun with Dick and Jane
  • Gulliver's Travels
  • Sex Tape
  • Zoolander 2

Which makes me even more convinced that the upcoming TMNT movie is being made as part of some kind accounting scheme. At the least the Purge movies have an audience, this is just bizarre.

They’re saying it’s a straight up reboot.

I think the studio is trying to change its image. All they done were horror movies.

I am Ok with this.

I'm surprised that this is apparently a reboot, I was expecting tmnt 3.

Nobody wants a third installment.

Which is a shame as those four were kind of the best part of the whole thing. They were a great match up for the Turtles. Imo. I'd be very glad to see them reprise their roles. And if not that, I'd be happy to see Pete come back and voice Leo in a series or something someday; he had such a great voice for him once he finally got the chance.

If this one is still connected to the last two, honestly... my advice, just jump ahead in time, leave the previous stuff behind, and make a whole new stand alone story rather than rebooting all over again, once again twisting up the same old story in an effort to try to be different. As much as I love the origin story, it gets tiresome to reboot over and over. But I also don't want to keep twisting it just to try to force it to be new. Instead, let them be a little older and grab that new ground, post Shredder, etc. Make it good enough that people actually want sequels (right, that'll be a good trick...), THEN down the road revisit Krang, make him a REAL threat that actually does some kind of harm to the city/country/world for the duration of the film, and unfreeze Shredder...either using him then or unfreeze at the end and save him for a following one. (Okay that makes it no longer post Shredder, but it's at least a Shredder hiatus to let the Turtles break away from the last two films and be better.)

Yes, I'd be okay with it being a 3rd, IF it does a total about-face in terms of writing and storytelling. (And for christ sake, recast the major humans.)

Autbot_Benz 06-20-2018 02:56 PM

might as well cast pornstar April O Niel to play April at this point she was more convincing as April in her TMNT porn parody than Fox was in both the bay turtle movies

IndigoErth 06-20-2018 03:06 PM

 That is truly sad if someone who didn't really have to try did better than someone who SHOULD have tried pretty hard.

the fact she took that stage name as an homage to the Character from TMNT proves she cares more than fox did.

Bay, Form, & Fuller, again?

Someone at Paramount needs to be fed to wild hogs.

HAVE YOU PEOPLE LEARNED NOTHING?

DO YOU NOT LISTEN TO ANYONE?

I am sickened to my core.

I hope you're all excited to get spoon-fed another hot pile of steaming bile.

Xiewin 06-20-2018 03:20 PM

Oh my goodness.

IndigoErth 06-20-2018 03:21 PM

Maybe at least this early nothing is set in stone yet and there's still plenty of time for someone to lurk around sites like this and take some notes... Or so I wish.
