Supposedly the scent is a stimulant, but acts as a sedative if ingested.

Kittens generally won't react to it though, so exposing them to is probably just wasting your money anyhow. Can take them up to six months to developed the sensitivity to it if they'll have the trait.


With or without it though, cats can just be crazy animals; maybe more-so than some first time owners expect if they assume cats are just lazy animals who sleep all the time.
