Can someone explain to me what the "torys" are in the UK? I frequently see them referred to online by people angry that they're "messing up" this or that, but I've never bothered to look into who or what they are or are about.

The UK's Conservative Party. I'm not super knowledgeable about UK politics, but from what little I know, the previous version were called the Torys, which gave way to the Conservative Party, so everyone just kept calling the new party the same thing to this day. They're the one in power right now. Well, technically in power, given how dire their situation is after they blew it with this last election.
