That's generally the same for any show. Female characters are there to be their own character of course, but they're also always designed to look attractive/pretty for male audiences to remain interested. This has been the case any show/cartoon/movie/anime in existence. There's a reason you rarely see ugly or fat female leads in shows/movies/anime with rare exceptions.
