Let's get back to the subject, and I'll do "Enter the Rat King".

Episode 27: Enter the Rat King
Written by: Francis Moss

Voice Cast:
Cam Clarke: Leonardo, Cab Driver
Townsend Coleman: Michaelangelo, Rat King
Jennifer Darling: Irma
Pat Fraley: Burne Thompson
Barry Gordon: Donatello
Renae Jacobs: April O’Neil
Rob Paulsen: Raphael
Peter Renaday: Splinter, Vernon Fenwick

Mistakes:
1. When the Turtles head for the Channel 6 building's window the strap around Donatello's bo is brown instead of gray.
2. April uses a Turtles/Splinter "stretch-style" Turtlecom instead of her circular turtlecom when she contacts them with it in the sewers.
3. When the Turtles are eating pizza, Donatello's bo and Leonardo's Kantanas disappear from their belts after the TV monitor goes static.
4. April's voice was not muffly when she was starting to remove her gag when she asked who the Rat King was.
5. Although Donatello mentions they wish they had those anti-gravity boots from episode 6 (Return of the Shredder), they actually appear in the episode "Sky Turtles", which is actually episode 23.
6. In April's dressing room, a post-it note on the wall written by the Rat King spells her last name as "O'Neill" instead of "O'Neil".
7. Just before the Turtles encounter the Rat King, Donatello's Bo changes color from brown to white, then flashes brown before turning white again.
8. The color configuration on the Rat King's soda bombs reverses from blue and red from top to bottom to red and blue after he says "bring her (April) back to the palace", and Irma says "Wait!"

Pizza References:
1. Splinter mentions that there is one box left of pizza, but it turns out to be a common sewer rat.
2. While searching for April, Michelangelo mentions that the sewers are emptier than a pizza pan after an attack of the midnight munchies.
3. The turtles are eating pizza in the kitchen near the end of the episode.

Catchphrase Countdown:
1. Michelangelo says "Cowabunga" and all say "Turtle Power!" upon leaving the Channel 6 studio for the sewers.
2. Raphael warns the turtles that they are Turtle Soup as Splinter affected by the Rat King's flute threatens to destroy the turtles.
3. Michelangelo calls Irma a Dudette.

Pop Culture References:
1. The mighty hunter doll in the sewers is a reference to the 1940 Merrie Melodies short.
2. Leonardo mentions that it's a small world down in the sewers, a homage to the Disney song.
3. The Rat King was created as a take off on the 1965 movie, "King Rat", starring Richard Dawson as a military prisoner.

Fourth Wall Breaking Humor:
1. Raphael mentions that although rats upset him and his friends, he states that its a terrific dinner topic.
2. Vernon says "Shouldn't we get some professional help" when entering the sewers.
3. Michelangelo says, "you want to zoom that by us again?" when Leonardo shows the direction the Rat King's lair is located when the turtles reach the subway tracks.

Wacky Inventions:
1. The Rat King's rat-attracting flute
2. The Rat King's soda bombs
3. Donatello's Super Rodent Trap

Kidnapping:
April is carried away by the Rat King after her news report about rats.

Notables:
1. The first episode without Shredder.
2. First episode of the Rat King.
3. The third episode of five to begin its title with "Enter" followed by the character introduced.
