I don't even know what to say of this, it does sound obviously like it's just some kind of performance piece with an interactive element as pointed out by Candy Kappa (so I see no reason to get all upset over it), but executed a bit in the extreme. The article at least makes it kind of confusing what is even going on, so while it's an interesting way of trying to get across a very poignant message (if I even got the real gist of it), helping part of the attendees understand a side of society they have not really experienced for themselves...maybe their message is getting a little lost in translation if it's as complicated as the article makes it sound.
