Because the universe is the series as it is presented. The OT is it’s own universe, the 2k3 is its own universe, and 2012 is it’s own universe. Half-Shelled Heroes while using a different animation style uses the 2012 universe model (Same voice cast, same character designs, same villain roster), but isn’t connected in any shape or form to the series it’s modeled after thus making it an alternate reality.
