Well being a lighthearted cartoon I don't think it's a big deal if thier height doesn't match a real teenager.
A lot of cartoon characters don't really match thier real life age group in appearance because they're designed to look cute or stylized in someway.
Dipper and Mabel look younger than they are in Gravity Falls. To me anyway.
