It would be interesting to see hits from 1984 thrown in and see how it would weave into a script be it Ghostbusters, Sunglasses At Night,When Doves Cry, Time After Time, Missing You, etc.

The Turtles could have been raised on the film craze of the early to mid 70s' martial arts craze which would reference their '87 cartoon interest. Not to mention a lot of underground fight clubs that the Foot could recruit from and the punk thug movement of the late 70s' to early 90s' would fit too. Picasso was at the end of his life when the turtles were little in the early 70s' and could legitimize Splinter's interest in art. The more I think about it this needs to fleshed out more and it can work if done right. It would be different, but not different for the sake of it, but a possible benefit.
