I'm a fan, and hope to play Mario Odyssey soon enough. I just never found them more than... fleetingly enjoyable. Like, I'll play one and beat it over a weekend, then never think about it ever again.
Galaxy was like that, so was Sunshine.

They're also not considered any good and the original creator had nothing to do with them. The jury's still out on the 8th one coming out... the creator once again has nothing to do with it.
