It's not exactly a surprise, no, but they had to know he was a scumbag well before the rumors were confirmed. I mean, his routines, while great (IMO) are chock full of
really raunchy stuff. Edgy socio-political riffs involving heavy use of the N & F words, frequent talk of masturbation, etc. The fact he was hired in the first place is what's surprising.
Reminds me of when Gilbert Gottfried was fired from Aflac for making an offensive joke. Like, you know you hired Gilbert Gottfried, right?
Obviously two very different situations, but when you pick a blue comedian to represent your family friendly company/series, there are certain risks involved, especially if there are pre-existing reasons to question their character.
