The general narrative at large, as I understand it:
Trump supporters mad at Gunn unearthed some ancient tweets Gunn did way back and MADE him get fired by Disney!! It's the far right's fault!
Like, that's it. That's the company line. Period.
But... why did Disney have to fire him? No, really... why? Would he have gotten fired similarly if this had been "unearthed"... say, two years ago? Or is this because of the ire spun from the SJW/#metoo movement, and pretty much every movie studio on Earth being on high alert as a result? "But Disney had no choice! The far right made it a crusade!!!" Wow, OK... what are you talking about? Who was holding a gun to Disney's head, exactly? Far, far worse folks have kept around for far worse.
And I'm saying this as someone who doesn't agree with Gunn's politics but generally enjoys his movies.
