Sounds veeeery possible...glad people found out and caused an uproar. o.O Was for their own good though, they probably got better box office results with what they did go with, despite the odds.
Really though, I think I could dig seeing those models as alien bad guys if they went for an original story. That might actually be pretty cool. Humans are, for some reason, at a loss for how to fight these beings...our Turtles are all like,
