Episode 36: Cowabunga, Shredhead
Written by: Duane Capizzi & Steve Roberts

Voice Cast:
James Avery: Shredder
Cam Clarke: Leonardo, Rocksteady
Townsend Coleman: Michelangelo, Krang
Barry Gordon: Donatello, Bebop
Renae Jacobs: April O’Neil
Rob Paulsen: Raphael, Vinnie
Peter Renaday: Splinter

Mistakes:
1. When Rocksteady and Bebop dance around Michelangelo, they switch positions.
2. When Leonardo and Raphael are approaching the pizza oven, Leonardo speaks in Raphael's voice.
3. Michelangelo is seen with his nunchuks when he exits the lair, but his nunchucks are not present on his shell right before he gets captured by Rocksteady and Bebop.
4. Michelangelo has a sock in his mouth, but later in the episode, he's gagged with a cloth.
5. When Rocksteady and Bebop pat Michelangelo on the head, and say "too bad we have to flush him", the sock is in Michelangelo's mouth, but a shot later, it's gone.
6. Michelangelo's ankles are tied, but when a cloth covers his mouth later on, his ankles are untied.
7. When Donatello and Michelangelo grab Shredder after Splinter hypnotizes him, Michelangelo's belt initial shows Leonardo's "L".
8. When Splinter hypnotizes Shredder back to his normal self, Michelangelo and Donatello grab him, but in the next shot they are replaced by a clone of Leonardo and Raphael.
9. After Michelangelo is hypnotized by Splinter, the animation resembles a Looney Tunes style.
10. After Shredder leaves the pizza kitchen, the three turtles can be seen popping out of trash cans, but Leonardo is colored as Michelangelo, who is currently held hostage.

Catchphrase Countdown:
1. The hypnotized Shredder says that he "Hunga for Cowabunga" when he fights with Michelangelo for the Cheapskate.
2. Shredder calls Bebop and Rocksteady "idiots" while they are shooting at the Michelangelo clones and after he discovers that the synthesizer is about to explode.
3. When Michelangelo is rescued by Leonardo, he says "Cowabunga!"
4. Shredder calls Rocksteady and Bebop "moronic mutants" when he removes the graphic disc after he discovers that the holograms aren't doing their function.
4. The hypnotized Shredder says "Turtle Power" and "Cowabunga" while he is destroying the synthesizers.

Pizza References:
1. At the beginning of the episode, Raphael, Leonardo, and Donatello discovers that Michelangelo ate all of the turtles' pizzas. This leads Splinter to control Michelangelo from no longer eating any more pizzas. This leads to:
2. "I Crave Pizza No More." This is part of mind control to prevent Michelangelo from eating all of the pizzas, and Raphael feels that it might be safe now to order out some pizza.
3. When the hypnotized Shredder first comes to the Turtles lair', he is shown carrying three pizzas and they pop out and land on Leonardo, Raphael, and Donatello's heads. When he is introduced by Splinter, he says that he likes to consume "mondo portions of pizza".
4. Shredder says that the graphic disk even contains information about Michelangelo's appetite for pizza.
5. Michelangelo goes to Vinnie's Pizza, despite says that he craves pizza no more. He agrees for The Works, but then a Splinter voiceover says "I Crave Pizza no More" convincing Michelangelo not to eat it.
6. The hypnotized Shredder says that he would go to Vinnie's Pizza to find Michelangelo while the other three turtles are at Channel 6.
7. We see Vinnie's Pizza kitchen which consists of a Shredder (which hypnotized Shredder says to transform back into his normal state). Leonardo and Raphael then get shoved onto a conveyor belt under pizza dough and head towards the oven, getting some cheese and toppings along the way. They then get rescued by Donatello, but then an experiment causes a new batch of pizza on top of them, though it was designed for the turtles to escape it more easily.
8. At the end of the episode, Raphael delivers eight pizzas in the Turtles' kitchen. Splinter tells Michelangelo that he shall crave pizza once again, and that he'll have two, no four, wait a minute it better make that eight pizzas.

Pop Culture References:
1. Kung Pau is an ancient form of mind control.
2. When the holographic synthesizer is first turned on, Bebop says that the lights on the monitor look just like Christmas at the state pen.
3. The graphics disc also contains a function where The President can be cloned, though the animated image on April's computer looks little like George H.W. Bush (president at the time the episode first aired).
4. When the Michelangelo clones appear in a circle, Rocksteady states that they feeling like that they are at a shooting gallery and Bebop wishes he could count and keep score.

Fourth Wall Breaking Humor:
Michelangelo's "I can't believe I'm saying this" after he says "I Crave Pizza no More".

Wacky Inventions:
1. The holographic synthesizer and its accompanying graphic floppy disk and electromagnetic forcefield.
2. The robotic pizza making machine at Vinnie's Pizza.

Kidnapping:
Michelangelo is kidnapped by Rocksteady and Bebop at Vinnie's Pizza and is tied up after they drag him to the synthesizer's room.

Notables:
1. This is the second character in which Shredder's mind has been altered into, the first being Splinter from "The Old Switcheroo".
2. This is the only episode in which the Channel 6 building appears but only contains one member in the episode, April.
3. The computer monitors give the proper spelling of "Michelangelo".
4. The first episode in which Krang (voiced by Townsend Coleman) has an alternative voice.
