Bullcrap Nick Splinter wasn't abusive that would be the Platinum Dunes Splinter from the first movie who basically beat the crap out of his sons for going above ground with his tail. Nick Splinter cared for his sons and sometimes was a hard teacher but he was never abusive to them.
