As far as the avatar thing goes, if you just click the "choose file" option in the avatar settings and pick a file from your computer (or put a link from one you want) it
should work. You could also choose from the ones that are already there.
Unless there's some sort of time or post requirement you have to meet before you can have one.
I'm not sure.
