I'm in no way condoning his actions, but he was made fun of by that girl and her friends over a period of time. Again, he was attacking a bully. There is a difference. Whether you choose to accept it or not.
We can say it's access to guns or misogyny (a current favorite), but this problem will only be fixed when kids stop harassing/bullying other kids.
