This is the best part of that article:

As of earlier in 2016, EW learned that at least the next four films following The Incredibles 2 were all originals, but take that with a grain of CGI salt. Pixar’s signature story-building process takes years, and the studio has been known to shelve a tale if it simply doesn’t captivate. (R.I.P., Newt.)

Ah man. I have nothing against Bo Peep but her absence would be a lot more powerful if... you know... she stayed absent from the series.

Bo Peep is my fave after Woody, so this definitely interests me.

I hope the 4th one is better than boring Toy Story 3 though.

Toy Story is the rare movie franchise that has never had a bad movie. I like Toy Story 2 and 3 almost as much as the first one.

However this 4th movie has me worried. The series ended perfectly with 3 and I feel another movie is just pointless. I don't want to see the Toy Story franchise tarnished by excessive movies and see it run into the ground like so many other movie franchises. I understand Disney wants to keep the brand alive but they continue making 22 minute shorts instead.

As long as this one takes place at the home of the little girl at the end of the 3rd one and doesn't get rid of the characters introduced in that one.

That bit of insight makes me less skeptical about this movie.

I always thought a good plot of TS4 would be to have Andy all grown up and then realizing he should have never gotten rid of his toys and trying to go on a mission to collect them all back together. I'm watching this regardless but man 3 had a perfect ending. Even though it pretty much makes me want to cry every time I watch it. LOL!

I'm all for new Pixar films but I'm probably looking the most forward to the new Incredibles more than anything.

In all these years, I never realized that Annie Potts was the voice of Bo Peep.

Nah, that wouldn't work. It would completely go against the point of TS3 - which is about letting go - and would put the focus on Andy instead of on the toys.

Well I think the idea of "letting go" is already pretty much shot from a Pixar perspective. LOL! I totally understand what you're saying though.

The film is still on track for a release on June 21, 2019.

http://collider.com/toy-story-4-release-date-2019/

Annie Potts, who will be reprising her role as the voice of Bo Peep, revealed that about three-quarters of the script had to be thrown out and rewritten. She also went on to say that her feelings were hurt a little bit when she didn't get to do the third film, but Lassester assured her that they were saving her for a fourth film.

So Lasseter was planning on making a 4th movie before finishing the 3rd? I wish Lasseter had been ousted sooner so he couldn't push for this 4th movie.

I really don't think this film needed to happen because the third one ended things so perfectly. However, Disney and Pixar have stated that this is more of a stand-alone movie and not a direct continuation of the third film. Bo Peep is also a beloved character and many fans were saddened that she only appeared during Andy's home videos in Toy Story 3 and then suddenly just disappeared.

Just recently, Tim Allen compared this film to Avengers Infinity War.

Quote:
"Yes. I can't believe it," Allen said. "I gotta resist getting emotional because I don't wanna give it away but this is an incredibly great story. If you're at all a big superhero fan, Infinity War - I'm a big superhero fan - that didn't seem like it was going to work [but[ it was a lot of vignettes that all made sense. This Toy Story 4 [did that]. We've only been through it once, there will be several more incantations, but it is so emotional, it's so funny, it's so big the idea that they've come up with. I'm startled. 3 I thought was amazing. This one, I couldn't even get through the last scene, okay?"

Unfortunately, Allen couldn't reveal any more information than that, keeping the story of Toy Story 4 under lock and key.

"I'd love to be a Washington leaker, but I just can't do it," he said. "I can't give it any more away. They've got great characters, but a couple of the scenes towards the end were really hard to get through."
