New Mega Blocks Release Announced - Page 94

A bunch (though not all) of the TMNT MegaBloks are on clearance at the TRU in my town. I'm sticking to Mirage-based stuff these days, and they had the Raph/Casey/Second Time Around set marked down to $15 from $25 (Canadian), so I couldn't resist:

Pretty cool little set! Definitely worth picking up at that price. Might have to keep an eye on the Leo/Shredder set in case that goes on clearance too.

Kind of a bummer that the whole line seems to be dead, though. In general it seems that TMNT toys aren't moving, at least where I am. In particular I've noticed there are a lot of BayTurtles toys on clearance and collecting dust.

TMNT Classic has been removed from the megacontrux.com "worlds" page within the past few weeks. Stick a fork in it.

I saw the new Walmart planogram sheets for the Mega shelves last night. Space for the new "heroes" packs (Aliens/Trek/MotU). Space for the remaining mutagen packs (they aren't clearancing those out). And space for Nick blind bag series. So that gives hope for the bags, otherwise, stick a fork in everything else. Halo, CoD, and Pokemon are the new big space takers. Minions are reduced too.

In other news .. the appearance of S5 bags on ToyWiz (along with Shredder Throne Room) is encouraging along with S6 preorders. But I don't take it yet as confirmation they will make it to the major retailers. Mega has been known to dump a wave or two on "back channels" (dollar stores, members only stores, other countries, etc) in their other series while continuing as normal with future releases ... ToyWiz may be a back channel for S5. But the planogram gives renewed hope since Wally still plans to give em space for the near long term.

In other positive news...

I have spotted the new Mike/Raph connectable trike sets AND the Shredder throne room set listed now on walmart.ca (Canadian Wally). The trikes also on Amazon Canada and sometimes US. Stuff is starting to move again. The massive mid year purge of last year's Christmas toys is on at Target and Wally. Soon this year's big Christmas push will begin trickling in!

And I will be as excited to go into Walmart and grab armfuls of Mega Xenomorphs and Borg as I have been classic TMNT!

My local TRU has two technodromes that have been collecting dust. They are at $150. Waiting for them to go to a blow out price. They do have the bebop and rocksteady sets for $6 and regular figures for I think $4.

I got 2 New Mega Construx sets and then in the back, it showed all these new figures to collect. I'm pretty bummed we're not getting all these. I highlighted the ones I didn't know about and really want. Super Shredder, Armaggon, and Monster Hunter Leo? Didn't even know those were coming!

I can't confirm and don't want to confirm either. I haven't accepted 2012 is over yet.

Nothing has been confirmed. And in truth, it looks like Mattel is going to continue to produce TMNT Mega Construx sets, at least for the time being. The problem is that no major retailers seem to carry them. Series 5 of the blind bags were produced and released. But the only store that seems to have gotten them is ToyWiz.com A few other sets have popped up recently on Amazon. But they seem to be in very limited supply.

Raph Skate Training: $3.50
Mikey Nunchuck Training: $3.50
Mikey Pizzeria Showdown: $9
Donnie Mouser Attack: $5
Raph Dimension X Battle: $7
Leo Turtle Glider Pursuit: $9

And I think the classic Bebop and Rocksteady Foot Soldier sets were also priced at $7, but it wasn't entirely clear from the shelf labels.

Blind bags and Mutation Canister figures still full price.
