Why do you guys think the IDW comic review threads don't get much activity? In each of them it's always the same 7-8 people in each thread, yet I know much more people on these forums read them than that. I know not everyone gets comics right away, some wait months or even for the trades to read them, so there's probably that.

IDW is the only currently ongoing TMNT series, at least until Rise of the TMNT starts, so I'm curious.

One Turtle did brush his teeth in an old "Turtle Tips". I forget which Turtle, but the lesson was to turn the water off while you brush your teeth. And Raph showers in the "Donatello" Mirage micro series.

But.. most (all?) other cartoon characters never use the restroom either. They also wear the same clothes every day. They are not like you or I.

Well hopefully they do at least have a number of masks that do get washed rather than just the same old sweaty, grimy one every single day...

If only I could find that fanart I came across a while ago with a bunch of identical masks laid out in front of one of them as he's trying to decide what to wear today. lol

I used to write my thoughts or mini-reviews but I just plum got bored of doing it. Usually someone else already has said exactly what I would anyway, which is why for a while I would just quote DrSpengler & add "This." or "Great review, I feel the same." but it got redundant very quickly. I still follow closely & enjoy it, but just don't have the drive to talk about it.

The Turtles aren't incapable of some amount of hotness, but Rise? That's some interesting taste in mutant Turtles...

I dunno, skinny legs, pointy heads, big foreheads, etc just don't really do it for me. lol 2003 had much more potential.

People seem to be enamored with Rise!Leonardo in particular.

I tend to see fan-art/ drawings of him blowing kisses and making heart symbols. They also take a liking to him by making him blush. It's like he's their husbando or something.

It's kind of ... baffling to me. I guess I just don't understand (self-)fanservice.

That kind of art has already been happening a long time prior to Rise anyhow. Even PD got that treatment, but maybe it's also an attempt to make them into something more lovable.


So far I've only seen one piece someone did (Rise Leo) that was actually kind of adorable, but they changed the art style and gave him better proportions and made me wish Nick was doing one like hers/his instead.

I'm not impressed with their look so far, nor the cheap-looking animation. Definitely doesn't say "screaming-fangirl bait" to me.

And you can kind of pick out type attributes to which version too.
