Remember that time Angel apparently had a thing for Woody... for some reason?

I didn't until you mentioned it. What even was the point of his character, exactly?

Woody was originally a contact to the outside world for the Turtles, even pre-dating Casey and April. He gave Mike food and didn't seem to mind that he was a mutant, leading to them becoming friends. Then when Slash attacked him he didn't feel like keeping up the contact out of fear that he'd be dragged into danger. Essentially, his purpose was to have Mike learn that bonds can be fragile.

I wouldn't say that Woody was always pointless, it's just that his purpose was served within the first 16 issues. Now that he's no longer afraid to hang out with Mike, but doesn't really have any skills to progress the plot or a personality that could be the source of conflict, his presence has become somewhat unnecessary. Which is probably why he pretty much only shows up for "breather" issues.

Then in that case (all good points), let me rephrase:

Has there ever been a character introduced in the ongoing who only appeared once? (And not, as you guys have correctly pointed out, in Universe or a mini-series.)
How about Jagwar? She has only appeared in issues 71 and 72 if that counts.
The rest of the Pantheon has been seen numerous times in the main ongoing, except Chi-You of course.

It was cool seeing Jagwar. I just wish they did more with her. I hope they bring the character back. This version of Jagwar isn't a mutant just like the original.

I think the Pantheon as a whole is probably not going to show up for the foreseeable future. Maybe once the Mutant Town arc is over there might be a brief filler as the turtles learn what's become of the outside world. That's the only place I could see them fitting in a (probably short) cameo from the other Pantheon members. Cause after that I imagine it'd be finally time to figure out what Null has been up to, and I doubt that'll involve the Pantheon either.

Wait, so is the Pantheon actually done now? It actually amounted to nothing?

I think only Rat King and Kitsune may still have some plot relevance at this point, which is kinda how it's always been really.
Aka is "dead" (whatever that means to a Pantheon member), Toad Baron probably just wants to continue partying, Chi-You is still lost in another dimension and Gothano, Jagwar and Manmoth have never really shown any interest in humanity/ Earth anyway so why would that change now?

No, the thing with the Dragon is done (I think) but the Rat King implies the Pantheon as a whole isn't done yet.

Yeah. That version of Mona Lisa was an Alien. and not a Mutant like the original. So I'm happy they went the original route for the IDW version.
