Seriously. I'm just interested in the business aspect at this point, personally. I'm pretty curious as to who and why this was help up for so long.

Supposedly it’s been finished for a while now.

It cant be becuase of that because the RISE of the teenage mutant ninja turtles series ended in summer 2020. The move must be complete now.

Yeah, Covid could have slowed things a bit, but I don't believe that would delay it this long if it's really pushed to next year, seeing how that Loud House movie that was announced at the same time already did come out this summer without issue.

Only difference there is what, Loud House isn't canceled? Surely the early cancellation was more of a wrench thrown into it than Covid, but even then this seems like a bit much. They had to know they were closing the series up early like, what, at least spring of last year? Maybe sooner since the toy line was ending already?

Unless it's a different studio doing the movie and no one bothered to inform Netflix that the series was ending until it did and suddenly told them to change most of it. Kidding, but still... It may as well have happened that way.

edit: Maybe getting canceled cut the budget on the film and now they want to do it as cheap as possible, so it's down to just a couple people working on it and an old slow computer... lol

The thought of animators in their homes reaching for their mouse to do some animating, then recoiling back with fear unable to continue at simply the knowledge that somewhere out there, COVID is lurking is pretty amusing.

No, not that I know of. At least my own state ended actual lockdown May of last year.

I'm sure there are probably things that precautions might impact and slow down the process -- in large part maybe the voice recording if they have to have fewer people present each session? -- but like Andrew is suggesting, so much of the actual creation of it could be done remotely now and via Zoom conferences.

Was more or less joking last time, but I dunno... with the cancellation and ending of the toy line Rise isn't pulling in revenue, plus the possible losses in the companies in general from the pandemic and work force... who knows, maybe budget issues are a part?

Or after it canceled they pulled that cash and put it into getting that Loud House one done first since that show is still current?

"The blue one." Yeah, okay, Splinter.

Work and love... We'll see. We've heard that claim too often as empty hype.

I just hope that the movie will include nearly every character. Especially Frankenfoot, Mayhem, Huginn, and Muninn make an appearance.

The "We waited too long to release it, that's why it didn't do better numbers" spin once it finally comes out and nobody cares about it is gonna be glorious and hilarious.

They ought'a just call it "Contractual Obligations: The Movie". It's like when Davy Jones and Mickey Dolenz put out a record as "The Monkees" in the early-70s, just the two of them, because they owed one more record to their label and Peter and Mike already quit. Nobody cared, and it did horrible business, and even they hated it. BUT HEY, contracts are contracts, so you gotta put SOMETHING out.

That's exactly what this movie is.

There are a shocking amount of genuinely good Monkees songs. Primarily the ones Nesmith wrote. But there's other good ones, too.

That's the joke. It was a jab at the fact that he was completely absent in Season 2.

To be honest, I still haven't finished the series so I'm fine with it.

What do you care whether or not they featured Mayhem? If he was used more, you'd moan about how they're focusing too much on the dog cat critter. You'd still come in here like a bitter ex-girlfriend complaining about a series that you still can't accept the direction of, even after its cancellation.
