Absolutely. Magneto has been on a downward spiral since "First Class." So, I would argue, has Xavier and Beast.

Since just after First Class, yes. Bryan Singer had no idea to do with the groundwork Matthew Vaughn laid down. He fumbled the ball, terribly.

Fassbender is a great actor who deserves the different acting jobs he's gotten recently.
But we don't need to see any more of this version of Magneto. He's overstayed his welcome.

Personally I don't think Fassbender's Magneto had the gravitas of Stewart's Charles Xavier or Jackman's Wolverine. He's good, but not that good. Definitely time to explore some other aspects of the X-Men property. I'd like to see a live action movie bases on the 90s cartoon team. I'm ready for Channing Tatum's Gambit

Fassbender could continue bringing something new to the role if they'd let him. Every single one of these movies is now about Magneto having a good life stolen from him, then he becomes evil, but then he remembers a few scenes from First Class and decides to become a good guy again.... for now. Can't they try a different angle? What's wrong with going for an actual X-Men+Magneto team-up? That'd be awesome.

I dream of a day where Matthew Vaughn directs an X-Men movie focusing on the Brotherhood and Magneto's children, with Quicksilver, Polaris, and Scarlet Witch. And Genosha.

Maybe in ten years.

I would be pretty impressed if this is the case. It'd be even more impressive if this movie actually had a director.

Angelina Jolie is still a big name in 2017? What? She's all old now.

That would be amazing. I LOVE Chastain, hopefully this movie doesn't suck if she gets the role.

I'd love to see her in the MCU, don't really know who she would play though. Medusa maybe, but that's just a show now. Enchantress would have worked, but they merged her with Hela. Maybe Abigail Brand if Sharon Stone hasn't already sealed that deal.

Or Poison Ivy, if they ever decide to start actually making Batman movies.

Why would you have any faith that it wouldn't? It'd be like... Olivia Munn in Apocalypse.

Um... because Logan was good?

Just kidding. Obviously it's a forgone conclusion. Especially if Singer or Kinberg direct.

I just can't get my head around things developing as much as they are with no director. They're making cast announcements, teasing this and that... but no director. There's literally 0 examples of movies you can point to where it's like this pre-scheduled production for a film that's already promised by X looming date and that the studio has already casted for and developed and a director hops into it that have ever been any good. That's the X-Men 3 recipe.

All I can think of is maybe Brian Singer IS the director, has been the whole time and they're saving that for some surprise announcement at Comic Con in Hall H or something.

I agree. It's like it's a collaboration between producers who want to just make sure the film checks off all the arbitrary boxes, like ASM2. The director will just be the guy who puts all their writing onto camera. Damn, if you think about it that way, those rumors about Kinberg directing make a lot of sense.

Nah. It'll take another couple of movies at least... c'mon, they're making THIS after the Cinematic Ambien that was Apocalypse. So apparently they have some tattered goodwill left to burn...
