At this point, I'm leaning towards the idea that half of this isn't hired concept art... it's fan art they found on Deviantart or Tumblr or somewhere.

I'm perfectly OK with OotS bearing no visual resemblance whatsoever to the source material -- any source material -- as it has no resemblance to it in any other ways either.
