I'm sort of a long-time Indiana Jones collector as well, and finally got an opportunity to add these guys to my collection -
These are being stored in acrylic figure cases, and the white sheets at the bottom are cuts of microchamber paper to absorb any contaminants. With that in there, it's possible that if I ever have to let them go they will leave my care in better shape than they came in. Microchamber paper does miracles after a few years in a comic book, but many people aren't aware that it's great for most stuff. The LJN TOD Indy as a MOC example is still eluding my grubby lil mitts though.... Last edited by IMJ; 11-14-2019 at 07:51 PM. |

I have a huge collection of Jakks WWE and Classic Superstars figures.
My wife got these for my Birthday a few weeks ago: And I picked these up today at a fantastic bundle bargain: If I kept anything in the package I'd have to live on the roof, so these most likely aren't long for the plastic. Figured I might as well take some photos now while they're still all "un-popped".

There were several vendors at the Chicago Toy Show in Kane County today that had TUBS and TUBS of WWF (or related) figures for bin divers. You would've gone apeshit.

Very likely.
Luckily I live about three minutes away from the best flea market in NJ, which has a gigantic wrestling store inside. They've got just about everything from every line ever made, from mint condition stuff to a flood of loose figures. They do have a "junk bin" but only for really beat-up stuff; most of their loose figures are kept in bags neatly sorted on hooks and in very decent shape. Most of the used ones are still only $5-15, too, depending on condition and rarity. I do try and get new-ish stuff whenever possible; thankfully they regularly sell MIP figures for far less than the online rate, much of the time. I'm assuming because most people buy several figures at a time and thus offering bundle discounts is good for generating repeat business. It certainly works out that way for me! For example, that guy Crush in the middle often goes for anywhere from $80-150, but they asked me for just $75; Razor often goes for about $30+, and Brian Pillman is also usually at least that much, if not more since he's deceased and they never made a lot of figures for him. In the end, I got those three MIP figures and a loose used one for $95, essentially getting half of it for free. Definitely very fortunate to have them close by. Cheaper than eBay and no shipping.

Been having fun collecting these American re-releases of JP Godzilla vinyls that coincide with the big boy's 65th anniversary. $13 bucks during a grocery run? Hard to pass up.

I seen those. I only have a Godzilla so far, but I almost picked up a Ghidorah the other day.
They're pretty neat, I dig 'em at the price.

I've got all but King Ghidorah & King Caesar, on the fence about them as there are much better JP options. I will probably cave & get Ghidiorah but the glossy accent paint on King Caesar bugs me, not a huge fan of the character in general, either.

Could always repaint it, bruh. I spent all day yesterday working on fixing up a 12-inch Aquaman that I got for a song as part of a BvS set a while back. They're all just very basic "poseable statues" and the paint jobs are pretty lousy, but so far Aquaman already looks 100x better, just gotta finish the head. I noticed that a lot of the recent Godzilla toys are in need of some serious repaint work; that's a fun way to keep busy. That's what I'd do.

Naaahhh, there's only a handful of them, you'll be fine. At least, I've only seen a handful, and I think there's only like three in each wave, or something. Not a huge collection, so far. But they look cool, and they're cheap. Works for me!

Not about a "recent purchase", exactly, but I did finally come across the giant box containing the remaining 2/3s of my DC Direct figures that I couldn't find last year when I was going through the stuff in storage. So that's neat.
Most of them are still in near-perfect condition, which is great, but a few of them have some pretty loose joints. That was always a big problem with their stuff, back in the day. I don't have a lot of the newer stuff from them/DC Collectibles, but I remember that they started getting better about that after a while. I've got about 150 figures, most of them from between 2005 and 2008, although I've since picked up a couple here and there that are both older and newer. Hard to believe that they've been coming out with stuff since back in 1998; we take for granted how many toys are out there nowadays, but back then DC Direct was almost your only option if you wanted a DC character based on anyone except Batman. I still remember getting so excited to see a lot of characters getting their first-ever toy from DC Direct, back when they mainly did more obscure characters and only put out Silver Age versions of the "classic" ones like Batman and Superman. It was also neat to see the line evolve and improve over such a long time. They could definitely be a little more playable and a lot of the women just suck at standing up, but I still mark out for how they represented all the different art styles and all the famous comic book angles. It's neat to have like dozens of Superman figures and so much uniqueness between them. I really like Mattel's DC stuff, too, but I only have a few of those.

Tons of great stuff out there today. At the flea market I picked up a Kenner "Total Justice" Aquaman, and a Funko "Savage World" Panthro figure. Then at the mall I found a Super7 Filmation Evil-Lyn!
I also got a bunch of stuff for my wife, including the new McFarlane Toys Scorpion and Sub-Zero figures. I think she's gonna be pretty happy with those. We're probably both getting a bunch of wrestling figures for Christmas, too.

I actually got one of the best hauls ever for Christmas this year, thanks to my wife and the flea market down the street. Highlights include:
- DC Direct "Silver Age" Batgirl & Joker Two-Pack - Mattel 1982 "Masters of the Universe" Ram-Man (Loose) - LJN "Thundercats" Cheetara (Loose) - Remco AWA Road Warrior Animal (Loose) - Remco AWA Larry Zbysko (Loose) - Remco AWA Curt Hennig (Loose) - Remco AWA Michael Hayes (Loose) - Remco AWA Buddy Roberts (Loose) - Remco AWA Terry Gordy (Loose) - Super7 "ReAction" Jerry Only Misfits figure - Jakks "WWE Classic Superstars" Bob Backlund - Jakks "WWE Classic Superstars" 1-2-3 Kid - Jakks "WWE Classic Superstars" Sycho Sid - Jakks "WWE Classic Superstars" Canada-Exclusive Early-1980s Hulk Hogan (Blue trunks) - Mattel "DC Multiverse" Reaper I'm extremely happy and excited with everything. The Jakks "Ruthless Aggression"-style WWE figures are probably my single largest collection of anything, particularly the "Classic Superstars" line, but I'm still missing a ton and these four were all ones I've been hunting for a while, the Hogan especially. I'm also a huge DC Direct collector so I've had my eye on that Batgirl/Joker set for almost 20 years (although I'm scared to take them out for fear they'll crumble ). Because I'm so invested in DC Direct, I sadly don't have a lot of Mattel DC stuff yet even though I'm a fan; The Reaper is a great-looking figure AND I'm pretty sure this is the first-ever figure for that character, so that's a big deal. I missed both Ram-Man and Cheetara from the original MOTU and Thundercats lines, respectively, so even finding them loose in such good condition counts as a win; I can easily go looking for their weapons etc. down the road somewhere. And I'm not huge on the ReAction stuff but I am a big Misfits fan, so Jerry will go great with my Crimson Ghost figure. The Remco AWA figures were nice to receive, because somehow I missed that line entirely as a kid. They've become pretty tough to find, even loose, because most of the figures were the first ever (and in some cases only) toy for many of the characters. Also, most of them originally came with soft goods jackets, robes, etc. which are almost impossible to find nowadays; some figures can range from being worth like $20 loose with no accessories, to over $200 loose just for having the original vest or whatever. I'm not gonna be obsessive about stuff like this, I mostly just want the figures themselves in reasonably-good condition, although thankfully there are a few websites that make very good replacement clothing if I do want a more "complete" look for them. Curt Hennig is the most "complete" figure I got; he's missing his Army cap but he's still got his camo pants and jacket, and even that's pretty hard to come by. I always wanted to start collecting the AWA line, so this is a pretty good start. I doubt I'll ever complete it, though, due to how rare some of them are. People online are selling Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty as a set for about $700, LOOSE with no accessories, since it was the first time either one ever had a toy, Michaels became a huge star and Marty rarely ever gets a toy at all. I mean I get it, but that's nuts. So I might end up just settling for the first three Waves since they're all pretty easy to find. Wave 4 (including Shawn and Marty) came out as the series was being cancelled AND included all-new characters, thus making them incredibly hard to find nowadays at reasonable prices, similar to the final WWF Hasbro wave in 1995. I guess you can't have everything. So yeah, great Christmas for toys! Anybody else get anything cool?

Went to the flea market today and got a pretty awesome deal on a nice haul of figures:
- Remco AWA Ric Flair (loose) - Jakks WWE "Ruthless Aggression"-style Tommy Dreamer (loose) - Jakks WWE "Ruthless Aggression"-style Matt Hardy (loose) - Jakks WWE "Ruthless Aggression"-style Snitsky (loose) - Playmates "TMNT Classics Collection" Raphael (loose) - OSFT WCW 4.5"-scale Kevin Nash - Jakks WWE Classic Superstars Kevin Nash - Jakks WWE Classic Superstars "Fabulous Freebirds" Three-Pack (Terry Gordy, Buddy Roberts & Michael Hayes) I paid about $65 for everything; going by the marked prices I under-paid by about $40, so they either really like me or just wanted to clear out a bunch of stuff right before closing. The used figures are all in really good shape; most of them hardly even look used. The Ric Flair needs a bit of touch-up paint but other than that, everything looks pretty good. Raphael even has both his sais. They've got the accompanying Michelangelo still in the package, but I'll pick that one up next paycheck. No Leo or Don, though, so I guess I'll hit the internet for those.

Flea market run again today. The place I go to got a big haul of Hulk Hogan figures in this week, and I was able to pick up a few that I desperately needed! Plus some other stuff.
- Mattel "WWE Basic" Series Modern Hulk Hogan (Black pants and red "Hulkamania" Shirt) - Mattel "WWE Basic" Series "Superstar Entrances" 1980s Hulk Hogan ("Hulk Rules" shirt) - Mattel "WWE Elite Collection" Modern Hulk Hogan (Black pants w/"Hulk Rules" shirt, "Hulkamania" shirt, and boa) - Playmates "TMNT Classics Collection" Michelangelo I missed all but one of the Mattel Hogan figures when they were brand new, which for me is an absolutely intolerable situation (I presently have almost 50 different Hulk Hogan figures, and counting). I ended up paying about $20-25 each for these, which was far less than the stickered price. I've seen people online asking $75 or so just for the Elite figure. I'm still missing a couple of Mattel Hogans, including the "Defining Moments" one that I seriously need to find, but I've got most of them, now. I think there's just the Defining Moments one, a Basic 1980s Hogan with no shirt, a Modern Hogan with a different shirt, and an "American Made" 1980s Hogan with blue trunks that's incredibly rare and expensive. There's also a "Create A Superstar" one and a Zombie one, but they look like crap and I don't care about them at all. They all look really good and have a great likeness. I really love how the 80s, 90s, and Modern Hogan figures all have completely unique head sculpts; Mattel did a great job capturing all the little differences, not just facial expression but things like his hairline or the shape and color of his mustache. Great, great figures. My only nitpick is that the "Superstar Entrance" Hogan come wearing a shirt but no headband (It's clearly a 1986 Hogan, so he would have had a headband and not a bandanna). It looks like they were trying to mimic the photo on the box, but that was from a photo shoot, and generally speaking Hogan has NEVER been seen wearing the shirt but no headgear, especially during his entrance. Since it's supposed to be based on his entrance, the lack of headband is a very sloppy error. BUT, in the end it's a very minor nitpick and I can probably make something for it that looks presentable, anyway. Since I picked up the "Classics" Raphael figure loose a couple weeks ago, I decided to splurge on the Michelangelo figure which is still in-package. I definitely want Leo and Donnie, but they don't have them at this place so I'm either gonna have to hope they get them in or suffer the whims of eBay.
