Any new TMNT TV show or movie, right at the start, before any sort of pre-production has taken place, they ALWAYS say something like "the tone will be dark" or "the tone will be similar to the original comics".

They never are. It's BS to try and get the fans on-board/interested.

Of course the only version that got anywhere close was the 1990 movie.

I don't think anyone said that of Rise before it came out... but for the most part, you're absolutely right.

I really hope you are at most a teen because I cannot see a fully developed adult using "you're not a true fan" mentality just because they don't agree with a certain iteration of a property. I'm the guy who criticized the crap out of the 2k12 incarnation but even I at my worst wouldn't deny someone of being a fan just because they like the show.

No TommyT, he's still a true fan. He just likes something you don't. It's ok to like different things...didn't realize I'd have to point that out to a freakin adult, but welcome to internet fandom.

Knock that elitist garbage off. We're all Turtle Fans here. I hear some people even like *gasp* THE NEXT MUTATION.

No, it probably is “fake news”, but to be fair, they are citing someone who apparently leaked two things which have turned out to be true. This could be real.

Interestingly enough, I have been semi-following something similar on The Old Turtle Den on YouTube. While nothing definite has been said, there have been hints and leaks of SOMETHING being worked on. Maybe this is it, or maybe it's the supposed reboot movie. Maybe a bit of both.

But this is Netflix!!! Every series is dark and edgy on old Netflix.

Maybe he got his info from this 'fake news' as well?

I'll wait and see what turns up, given there has been talk already about a live action show, but maybe there was an idea bouncing around which cased that. Guess we'll see if something more comes out or not.
This is the 2003 series.
