TMNT 1987 Season 9 scheduled for DVD release on August 16th!

Quote:
Our retailer contacts tell us that Lionsgate Entertainment has scheduled the next-to-last season of the original '80s-and-'90s animated series, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Season 9, for DVD release on August 16th. This production year, the last season with television show developer, writer and executive story editor David Wise on board, consisted of just 8 episodes and so it will come on a single disc. Cost is $14.98 SRP for 176 minutes, with episodes full screen video, English 2.0 Dolby Digital sound and with closed captioning. Package art isn't available so far, but stay tuned and we'll keep you updated!
AWESOMESAUCE! All I can say is, IT'S ABOUT TIME. Hopefully, Season 10 and the missing episodes will follow.

I was really starting to think that they weren't going to ever get to any of the final 16 episodes.

WOW! It's like my prayers have been answered!!!

Thank god. I guess sometimes whining and complaining really DOES make a difference.

Now we are almost certain to get Season 10 probably next year.

Thank goodness. I hope they remember about the three skipped episodes and put them on the 10th season set.

I wonder if we're getting this release in August to coincide with the release of the IDW comics. The IDW issues might have ads from Lionsgate in it.

Anyone remember how the Mirage comics from 2008 and 2009 had ads for the season 7 and 8 DVDs?

FINALLY!!! We may actually see this thing finished yet, far too many times have I started collecting a show on DVD only to have it cancelled half way through it's release. This is great news!

I'm guessing that the final set will be only one disc as well whenever it comes outs. If that is the case and they don't want to put too many episodes on a disc, I hope they put the missing episodes together with the season 10 episodes that haven't been on DVD before rather than just making it a season 10 set only. They could just call it "the final volume" rather than "season 10."

Awesome! It's been almost two years since they released Season 8! I'm looking forward to it even though Shredder and Krang aren't in it at all.

Wow, that is unexpected news. But most welcome. Now that's hope nothing goes wrong in the meantime.

They'll probably put all 8 eps of Season 10 on the last disc. I don't know if we'll ever get the 3 they skipped over. We'll have to rely on online uploaded from VHS tapes for those eps.

You might be right, but it would probably sell better if it had those 3 missing episodes instead since they were from the better seasons with more core characters and it would make the collection complete.

We've emailed them about those missing eps since way back when the Season 5 DVD came out, it's now years later an those eps remain skipped.

Granted they have been released on VHS in the 90's so people uploaded those eps online, so it's better than nothing.

Oh, this sneaky little DVD makers! But I'm glad they'll at least release it. Not holding my breathe for the missing episodes, though (which, IIRC, was released on R5 DVDs). There's still pretty good chance they'll screw as one way or another.

Yea! Nice to see they're back on the ball.

As for the missing episodes, maybe they'll release a Planet of the Turtleoids DVD with it and "2 bonus un-released episodes"....but I'm not holding my breath, either.
