Now if only I could come up with a decent name for Cobblepot + Dunn...

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the, "It's ALL stupid, just give up and roll with it."

Some of it can be stupid. Some of it always has been. But it can also aim a lot higher, and at times, it has. There's no need to throw in the towel and accept that it's forever doomed to be nothing but vapid pabulum for babies.

If things were a little bit more balanced, I doubt anyone would complain when things like this happen. Seeing the people who handle the brand consistently aim for the lowest common denominator is disheartening.

I don't expect better at this point, but I'm also never going to stop hoping for things of a higher standard to eventually come along.

I agree and disagree. Though for the most part, TMNT is a kids franchise these days and I don't think expecting too much from it will do you any good, yes, I do believe TMNT CAN aim higher, and at times, should. A crossover with Batman isn't one of those times. I agree, the cartoons should aim higher than they currently do with Rise. The main IDW on-going is aiming high. And once we get a movie, I hope it aims high as well. But a Batman/TMNT crossover can, and I'd argue should just be dumb fun.

There's nothing wrong with a dumb but fun story and this crossover perfectly captures that. For the most part (though obviously, with exceptions), that's what TMNT is about. Pretty much everyone I've seen outside of this forum loves the crossovers. If you just go along with the ride and appreciate it for the fact that it's just a fun story where the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles meet up with Batman to beat up Ra's Al Ghul and the Shredder, I'd say you'll appreciate it a lot more. Just my 2 cents.
Not necessarily hate but more so viewing this as missing the point. Batman in concept is pretty corny; a billionaire who dresses as a bat and fights crime instead of moving on from his parents' death and living his life as a wealthy rich man. But eventually, it took writers such as Frank Miller to look pass the Silver Age era and take risks with this character, which may or may not have alienated those who loved the interpretations before the 80s (one of my old high school teachers dislikes Batman nowadays because he's nothing like how he was in the Adam West TV series he used to love, lol).

Holding something to a high standard may be strange but being passionate about something that has potential despite the title pretty much shows how much value an intellectual property has if it can last this long.

Batman's been part of dozens of inter-company cross-overs that weren't just "dumb fun", and there's at least a dozen ways a TMNT/Batman cross-over could be done in a way that would both be "fun" and also, y'know, not stupid. DKR Batman and Mirage-style TMNT, for just one example.

I don't buy the defeatist attitude some people subscribe to. If everyone forever is willing to settle for less, than "less" is all anyone will ever get. But it's whatever. Wrong company bought TMNT, it is what it is at this point.

Very true. I can attest to this.

My point wasn't that Batman couldn't have crossovers that weren't dumb fun, my point is that a crossover between Batman and TMNT wouldn't work if it actually took itself too seriously. While, again, this comes down to my personal opinion that I can't exactly prove, I think the sillier parts of the two franchises work together well, but if you take that away, you're left with something that just doesn't work.

That is definitely an opinion.

Like most opinions, it's also bananas.

But I mean, it's whatever, have fun with it. I've completely had my life's fill of "goofy", just in general.

Me personally, I don't necessarily mind this crossover. For what it is, I feel it so far has been fun. Now, with that said, I'm glad these series' aren't canon to the TMNT side of it (and probably not the Batman side either). Some of the plot points and even some of the characterizations are, in my view, so contradictory to the main IDW story that there is no real way to make it canon. So this is more of a fun distraction or separate continuity from the main story.

Issue one came out today and I thought it was better than expected.
Spoiler:
I could not for the life of me think of who could have been the one to escape from Krang. Mirage Raphael was a huge and unexpected reveal. I am hoping this cross-over will be better than the last one.
