I wouldn't have thought of Seth Rogen for Pumbaa but I think it's a pretty good fit.

Disney is going to make so much money in 2019 - Lion King, Frozen 2, Star Wars IX, Avengers 4, Toy Story 4, Captain Marvel and probably their live action Aladdin. I think they'll be breaking the box office record they set in 2016.

That's pretty good casting, he's perfect for Zazu.

Are they using real lions and locals or CG lions/environments? If they're CG wouldn't this be a computer animated movie and not a live action version? At least The Jungle Book had a human..

Did people really assume Hugh was voicing Scar just because he was at Disneyland during D23? Idiots.

Wasn't there a 1994 jungle book with Jason Scott Lee. I dont know the criteria for the live action remake category but 101 Dalmatians was 1996. Did the 94 jungle book not count for some reason?

All the animals are CGI, they are using the same tech from The Jungle Book.

It stretches the definition of live-action doesn't it?! It will be interesting to see what Disney's marketing angle is, because they are basically making an animated remake of one of their most successful animated movies, presumably in a more realistic but arguably less expressive style. Where's the upside? Why is this better from an audience's point of view? Are they aiming for kids who haven't seen the Lion King? Do kids think 2D animation is lame, or does Disney think they need a modern roster of name actors to sell it nowadays?

The Lion King is my favorite Disney movie so I'll be checking it out regardless and I'm sure many people will. We've had all these live action remakes of movies I didn't really love so finally I get one for "my" generation, I'm excited for it as well as Aladdin. I don't think anyone is expecting them to be better than the originals just to get a nostalgia fix in a new interpretation of the version of a story that they love.

I just find it funny that people keep calling it live action when it doesn't seem like it will be. I guess as long as they go with "realistic" CG instead of cartoony will be enough for the average person to call it live action? I guess you can also argue that many "live action" films are mostly CG so where does one draw the line?

That's a good question. You don't tend to think of something like Transformers in the same light as Who Framed Roger Rabbit, but it's more-or-less the same basic concept.
