Dan DiDio Ousted From DC Comics

This is potentially huge news..... If anyone has been following AT&T's point of view on DC comics, the upcoming crazy 5G reboot (hotly debated) and the sales from within the industry you'll know that this is big news.

I hate to drive traffic to a site like Bleeding Cool, but they are saying it's confirmed that DiDio is out from DC completely.....

I'm usually pretty informed but I haven't been keeping up the last few months.

Wow, this is interesting though.

Basically the comic book market for new comics is a disaster - wrought with abandoned sales largely credited to the overrun of SJW themes, customer rejection of creators taking to Twitter with opinions, over priced books and too many gimmick deaths and events.

All of the market information supports this (check out John Jackson Miller's industry wide respected ComicChron website). Sales are down significantly and they are down year over year as well. So the story goes that AT&T who bought DC has no love for the publishing wing. AT&T reps have gone on record stating "we have no sacred cows in our portfolio" which is a way of saying that they'll cut any holding they see fit. DC planned on this 5G reboot which sounds terrible - it's the same character replacement theory that caused Marvel to hemorrhage readers over the last few years.

Now DiDio is gone - he's been the "Stan Lee" of DC since 2002.
